Post Running Mates. Who's most likely?
Who are the most likely choices for the role of "Running Mate" for:

Clinton/xxx
Obama/xxx

McCain/xxx
Romney/xxx

Any chance of a Clinton/Obama ticket?

Any "out there" choices?

McCain will not go with romney...

An Obama/Hilary and McCain/Huckabee fight would be an interesting fight. It would really put all four major demographics against each other.

Demarcates and moderates vs right wingers, social conservatives

McCain/Huckabee is looking more and more likely.

Clinton/Obama is possible, but only if Obama agrees to; Obama/Clinton is impossible. Obama/Richardson (that'd be a killer-combo, IMO, and could carry a bunch of states that Dems hadn't been able to recently) or Obama/Biden makes sense.

Richardson has stated publicly several times he is not looking to leave his governorship, though he can't go for re-election (max. term) in 2010. So I hope its just him, you know, being a sneaky diplomat. :D I so wish he would run as a VP.

If Clinton gets the nomination she'll ask Obama in an attempt to heal the party rifts. I doubt he'd agree.

If Obama gets it, I wouldn't be surprised by him asking Sebelius. Evan Bayh might be another idea.

So, question...why do some of you think that if Obama were to win the election the thought of him choosing Clinton is unimaginable?

The thought of Clinton accepting the offer is unimaginable.

Seeing how much those 2 pretty much despise eachother, i dont think they can work well together after this very dirty primary from both of them.

I wouldn't say they despise each other by any means...

Yeah. McCain and Romney, now those two despise each other.

Clinton/Obama would be the logical choice and would give Obama even more experience then he has right now which in my book isn't enough for him to leap to the title of President of the U.S.. Being Vice President is a great stepping stone to President as evident with Bush Senior and other Presidents in the past..

And she would be 68 if Obama serves 8 years, really no incentive on her side. Nor there is any incentive on Obama's side either to have a former president lurking in the VP family with dominant personality, and it's also against his message to look forward and effort to bring in the indepedents.

I just can't see any reason why Obama would pick Clinton. It's inconceivable.

Aside from the fact that it's unlikely that Hillary would take a number two position, it would also be a strategic misfire for Obama. He needs someone to help him win votes - someone big from, say, a swing state like Florida or Ohio, or someone like Bill Richardson to give him pull with Latinos. It's hard to see where Hillary would help him. Her strongest supporters would be with Obama regardless. You could even argue that it's more likely that she'd hurt him.

Obama wouldnt pick Clinton, nor would she accept if he did.

But the other way around would be alot more feasible - for both sides. Especially in a bid to defeat McCain.

What about Clinton/Edwards?

Obama/Edwards?

Too bad Richardson wouldn't take it, but I bet if he got the call...

Yeah, I don't buy that he'd turn it down.

Funny how, at least for me, the Democratic "dream ticket" changes about once a month. Before Iowa and New Hampshire, I would've said Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton. After that it was Obama/Edwards. Now, for me, it's Obama/Richardson.

I think Hillary/Obama/McCain need to select a governor as their running mate. The last Senator to win was Kennedy and prior to that Harding (I don't count Truman as he was a VP).

For McCain, I could see Crist from Florida or maybe Perry from Texas (he would help solidify more of the conservative base).

Hillary or Obama...Tim Kaine makes sense. He is from a Red state that can swing Democrat and is perceived as somewhat of a moderate. If they wanted to bone up on national security credit, they could ask Jim Webb, I know he is a Senator and undermines my thesis, but the guy seems to be popular amongst many members of the military and could also swing Virginia.

I agree totally. It's governors that are going to be the running mates. There's been some minute talk of Rick Perry from Texas also being a possible VP, but I'm not sure how popular he is there.
