And I have no particular desire to list the pros/cons of each candidate, especially now that it's extra-irrelevant, but plenty of others have so feel free to read about their various qualities elsewhere. I find Walz to be a dud, but hopefully enough others feel the same way about him that you do because I would like to move on from Trump et al.

Fair enough!

I do think Walz will excite a hell of a lot of people, though.

This guy will be very popular. His personality balances the tickets well.

Also, less important, this frees up Shapiro for 2028 in the event that Kamala loses.

I think Shapiro will have a hard time winning a primary filled with progressives. I worry this was his moment. But if enough former Republicans like me take over the Democrat elections, then he might have a chance

Eh we would have to see what a 2028/2032 field looks like. Being an articulate, popular governor of a swing state helps shapiro greatly no matter. Wes Moore remains the #1 prospect of the party in 4/8 years at this point, in my view. Wes Moore/Gretchen Whitmer ticket in 2028, should Kamala lose? :whaa:

Both parties kind of made the same pick of taking a midwest guy (but not from the real swing states) that is as left wing or right wing as their main candidate so it will turn out their voters rather than go for independents, which might be the right strategy in this time period. Right now it seems Walz is better pick as he is more likeable than Vance and a guy people want to have a beer with but will wait to see how he does in speeches and debate.

Seems like this pick was mainly to appease China:

the other giant difference is Kamala appeals to the urban crowd, so Walz gives some balance. Vance supposedly appeals to the people...DT already appeals to.
