 Wow
I feel it unfair, direspectful, and rude that I was stoned in public but not given the chance for a public response.
Eagle wrote: Now add to that underhanded comments from others. Tim often complains, so does Ripper, so does Mav, so do many others.
Tim hates that this forum is not BOM. I understand that, I feel for him, but there is not much I can do. He does not offer anything in the nature of constructive criticism, just mindless criticism.
The only thing I have ever said is that KJ is not BOM, to me. I have said that, and I have said that I don't feel the same sense of community as I did at BOM. I have never forced my opinions onto others, nor have I ever made any slanderous comments about KJ. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't come here. I'm not one to stick around somewhere and just complain for the sake of complaining - that is not me in the least.
How is that mindless? You've never asked me for constructive criticism, but that does not mean that you are building a 'mindless forum'. I wouldn't even call what I've said about KJ 'criticism'. To me, it is not what BOM was, but I am only one person, and I only take my stance that far. I have never said that I want this place to become BOM: Redux, nor have I said that it is a shit hole. What more do you want from me?
If you want to know what I think, then ask me. Don't slander me in front of people I respect without offering up a proper discussion including comment and response.
Tim

Well, Tim, I understand how you feel. I was pretty pissed to see my name in a thread, especially since I haven't even been here, and with the accuracy of the statements made against me not ringing true, but I'm not mad anymore. Eagle doesn't have many bad days, and he's entitled to a blow up every now and again. He's only human. I got more pissed about the comments that followed than anything Eagle said. At least you didn't have that shit happening. I do think Eagle should have considered that would happen before he singled out names, and it wasn't exactly the right thing for him to even start that thread, but I think he probably wishes he didn't, judging by his "What a useless thread" comment.
I know how you feel about BOM compared to here. I feel the same way. I've just never felt the same connection. In the last two weeks, I've spoken to two very respected members who feel exactly the same way. There's nothing wrong with that, just like there's nothing wrong with liking this place better. Some people are only looking at WOKJ through their own eyes, as well as projecting their own memories of what BOM was. That doesn't work when they're thinking everybody should agree with their assessment. BOM and WOKJ are VERY different, so it only stands to reason that preferences will differ. My only problem with BOM was Sean and the no swearing rule. Everything else was great when I was there, and I felt a stronger connection to the community. When Sean was in power, only Sean was in power, but here, there are a lot of members jockeying for position, backstabbing, self importance, class segregating, and that stuff raises a whole lot of issues that are problems with some members here, causes friction, and seperates the community, which was something that was never an issue at BOM, which is why I feel it was a better environment.
Just my opinion, but I'm sure somebody will take a shot at me for having it.

I guess the thing we have to say is "why"?
And if you don't feel the "connection" here, why are you spinning your wheels and why do you have 5000+ posts.

Eagle mentioned that the members here don't seem very welcoming, and I've felt it, too. Not just toward me, but toward many. Not mean or anything, just cold. When I was posting at BOM, I took it upon myself to personally be extremely welcoming to as many of the members as I could that were new. If Ripper ever posts again, ask her who made her comfortable right away and got her to start posting and welcomed her into the fold right away. I wasn't concerned about any cliques I was in, I was only concerned with having cool members being comfortable and feeling welcomed. (If she doesn't say it was Maverikk, I'll be very embarrassed )

I wouldn't disagree that WOKJ is a bit more of a closed circle.
That does, however have certain advantages.
It's not all negative.

Not feel welcomed? That's ridiculous! If anything, this community is too nice.
There are plenty of sites where newbies are treated like trash. RT, for example.
I think we should put the newbies through a rigorous test exam, and let them die the death of kings. Unless they survive, in which case they are welcome to post.
Until the first year anniversary, where they will be re-tested.
Also, I feel this is very much like a community with a lot of respect. There is no sexism, racism, homophobia, any kind of prejudice, really, to the extent where when it does flare up rarely, it's cause for outrage. Anyone who has been on the internet long enough knows how great a luxury it is to be part of a web community where such nonsense is not part of the common dialogue.

It took me 4000 posts to realize it. I do have a connection with some posters, such as you, but not to the community. I pretty much just hung on because of a handful of my favorites that I liked talking with, but it hasn't been enough, as I find my interest in even coming here anymore has pretty much disappeared. I wouldn't be here right now if not for Eagle's thread. I hadn't been here in a week, except for a few checks of the numbers, one PM reply to bABA, and a PM conversation consisting of one PM a day to and from Ripper. I haven't had anything to say, and I haven't had any desire to wade through any of the forums to read anything. I didn't miss it. Not missing it is the writing on the wall for me. If I was enjoying it here, I would have missed it. I was gone for 2 weeks not long ago, and I didn't exactly miss it then, either. Everytime I'm away, I feel less of a want to come back. I don't mean that as an insult to anybody. I also have a lot of interesting stuff going on in my life right now that makes coming here something of an afterthought. Still, there are times where I could fit it in, but haven't bothered to. You know what I mean, as you have also expressed your own discontent at times.

Bitch, moan, yell at me, yell at others, its all anyone else does around here anyways.
Of course it was wrong of me to single you out. You, Mav, Ripper. It was awful of me to single any of you out. Funny thing though, I don't really care. I know it was wrong, knew it was wrong, did it anyway! Interesting.
Don't feel to bad, this forum likely wont be here in a week anyways.
Cheers to that.

I didn't want to name names, but there was a poster who was making me want to leave. Why? because he was Are en.
(I like him now but it was his attitude to me for a while.)
