Well, I don't run the site so you can guys can do what you want. But I still don't like it. Can you not control him and just "pull him aside" and tell him to cool it? Why temp ban him when you can just warn him or just tell him to cool it. I think this is harsh and it does anger me. And i know you say that you have warned him in the past but really, does it have to go as far as a banning? I think Mav is one of the best contributors to a site when he is here. Like I said, i'm not the man here so you guys can make your on decision and call the shots, but I don't agree with this one.

They did tell him to cool down, and they did warn him multiple times. On account of one of Nebs' warnings he shot back with an insulting remark towards him, and that's where the banning came from.

bABA and Krem posted reasons for the banning, and this wasn't a 'push' for it.

How many times do you propose we tell him to cool it? Cause, you know, we've done a lot more times than is reasonable.

That's true. It especially seems like every forum argument involves Maverikk.

Seriously. I can't believe people are saying this is unreasonable. How many times do you need to warn someone? Better yet, how many bans need to be issued before it becomes "reasonable" to permanently remove someone?
Let him come back in a week. But warn (and ban, if it persists) him if he starts it up again. He is a wonderfully intelligent person when he sticks to the issues, but his abrasive personality makes him a huge problem. He needs to pay respect to other's ideas before he can regain some respect. I really hope he comes back and improves for the sake of everyone.

Okay, I'm going to play devil's Advocate here. How about someone like Getluv, who I have just recently started to understand his personality? He was perpetually abrasive and yet no one complained about him and he never even got a nsiff of a ban. But because it's Mav, he gets banned? Double standard in my opinion.

I don't think its double standards at all. When I get into a fight with someone on KJ i let it go but it stays in that thread, with Mav it's like he has to "win" and it goes on forever and ever.

That's true. I'm pretty pissy myself, but I bolt from threads when I know I'm beat like a sissy, instead of trying to drive the person I'm arguing against into submission.

Heh. By categorically ridiculing that person's entire generation, like they're a crop of demons or something, no less.

I miss these things.
I don't really post enough anymore to dive headlong into this. But, from what I've seen, Mav's been pretty sound for the past few months. But it does seem like these things are cyclical.
In a lot of ways, he's a lot like the hatch in Lost. The electro-magnetic energy (haughtiness) builds and builds over time, and someone has to press the button (ban him temporarily) to reset it (him).

That's a terrific analogy!
Where have you been, Snrub? I figured you and Krem were both dead... DEAD!!!! Imagine my disappointment when I found out both of you were alive.

I was reading the thread at BOM, and he sounds like he's at home. If that's the case, then so be it. I think there's a lot of people here who talked to him civilly, including me, but if he wants to think he was never at home here, then I guess he should be at a place that makes him happy.
