This is stupid. You want solidarity? Then go with a complete set using the old style one's, which contains a lot of the common emotions that posters used, and which clearly contains some favourites. I was willing to compromise with having a few of the old ones to cover the classic emotions and have the rest of these you like, but you refuse to compromise at all.

Whatever. I don't think you're being fair at all, but it doesn't matter because you are the administrator with the power. I won't bother anymore, but I'm not happy. Bye.

PEACE, Mike

I don't even know how to respond to that really.

I suppose your right, I am the administrator and I do have the power. Yet I am not simply changing things just for the sake of change here Mike.

I had many reasons. I wasn't at all happy with the smilies we had, people were telling me to just get rid of some of them, and for good reason. I had been planning a change for a while now, ever since I switched to this new theme, but hadn't had the time until now. I understand what your saying about common smilies, but I don't feel they A) fit this site and B) I like the idea of the smilies being fairly unique to this forum.

I am sorry this seems to have caused so much ... animosity ... I didn't intend or forsee it.

Let's just split the difference and go with ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Those are easily the best "basic" smilies on the net.Image

Sorry guys I'm going to go against the common thread here and say I like the new smilies. Sure, I miss a few of the old ones that I used a lot, such as  and , but seriously is it really worth three pages attacking Eagle over?

Geesh, he only shells out hundreds of dollars a year to run the site. He's only been the most leniant administrator ever, and you repay him by bitching about smilies?

Sorry guys, but I think that is pretty low. Might just be me though.

Well, he wants the best for the boards, but isn't the board supposed to be pleasing its users? It doesn't appear like the new smilies are doing that job. The boards are what the users make them. The smilies were well-intended, for sure, but not all good intentions work out well. This is nothing to hold against Eagle. All we are asking is to add them (some of them) back. I must say that it is simply less convenient to post at the moment.

lt's hardly "low" to voice one's opinion on something as trivial as smilies on a message board. The majority of us don't like them. That's it. No one's really ''attacking'' anyone. And l don't think we should just blindly give in and sing these smilies' praises when...well, they suck. lf Eagle doesn't want to change em, so be it. But we can still dislike them.

And Mr. X...don't make me change my sig! Image

Also, unique doesn't always mean good, Eagle.

Your sig? The code that makes the user reading it see their name?

Or... something else?

Yes but if he wants to make an asthetic change don't you think that is his choice?

Well the way some of you are posting is pretty damn low. And plus I'm just voicing my opinion so... :hahaha:

and I assumed most of the emoticons that you got requests for removal were the ones that were added after the boards were running, not the original ones (though i don't know why...people can choose to not use the noes they don't like as long as they don thate like 75%+ of them.

Which is the case for me with the new ones. They're so...cheesy?

Which is why Rod will not be using any emoticons in the near future.

But we are not supposed to like it, are we? What if he plastered the site design with swastikas for an asthetic change?

Hehe, well, I wouldn't quite go as far as Mike did, and while I don't like these new ones that much, they'll do.
