I never wanted him perma-banned to begin with.

Again, I would if I felt that he could just ignore some of the posts that inevitability get thrown at him, but he can't. He has to reply, he has to get his opinion out, he continually argues, and it's never going to change.
It's not all his fault, countless members here watch his every move, make rude baiting posts toward him and so on. But Goldie always replies, and in the end, he's the one who gets sent to time out because he's always the one taking it too far.

Now, Karl, I refuse to believe that kind of thing is going on here at Shangri-La! A lynch mob ganging up and starting trouble and the guy defending himself gets the blame and punishment? Say it isn't so! Why not bring him back with the threat of punishing anybody that starts trouble with him for no reason? If Goldie gets out of line without any fault of anybody else, then ban him. That makes senese to me, but you guys do what you want.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
We've tried it before.
People know how to bait Goldie without being downright rude. People just generally don't like him, and will throw very minor statements his way, which get him to say something, and then the other person replies, and it snowballs.
I'm not going to make our Mods or Admins babysit anyone to keep them in-line. The comments made to Goldie by various members, while baiting, rude, and childish, are nothing that a normal person shouldn't be able to ignore.
But yeah, I've tried just about everything to keep Goldie here, but in the end, you can't help someone who won't help themselves.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
Seriously, this is not even about him being annoying or whatever, it's more about some kind of a mental illness of a minor degree. I mean he's pretty much obsessed and a liar and all. All of you who doubt that should go back to BOM and read some of the stuff he has posted there (about him being a millionaire and partying together with Brett Ratner and Hugh Hefner) - and at the same time complaining to other people over PMs that he's living quite a miserable life.
Banning him from here and keeping him away might be the best thing ever happened to him. Before you start arguing anything, Box, just shut it and look at some past history.

Banning him obviously doesn't work
The only way to keep Goldie off KJ is for Loyal to go to his house and smash his computer and IP routing system... and then his face... and then take all his money so he can't buy a new one... Actually, even with that he'd still probably come back.
On a side note, I can't imagine what it'd be like to meet Goldie in real life. I can't believe he's a human being.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
It's not that I don't care enough to ban him, I just feel that if he's just out being a regular member, and doesn't go back to eccentric Goldie, then I'm fine with it. Again, this is what I wanted from him in the first place, he couldn't do it, I highly doubt he can keep it up, but we'll see. The situation is being monitored, and will continue to be.
Goldie is gone, he's banned for life, never coming back, that user is gone. Grill is someone with a different IP, and while I'd bet my life the person stroking the keys is the same, literally, my life, as far as I'm concerned there two separate entities and as long as they remain that way, then he's welcome here.
I understand that may be a bit counter intuitive to some of our rules, but it's my goal for anyone who wants to post here in an acceptable manner to be able to do so. I totally understand why you won't be happy with this Lecter, and I can only ask that you do what you can to not worry about it. There is an ignore feature, and if it would help, you can always use it. If you have any concerns, please feel free to PM me, I will gladly listen.
Some Goldie Rules (violation of which will lead to a ban): - If anyone ever admits to being goldie and there is reason to believe it's true - If anyone believed to be goldie starts anything remotely resembling the Lecter stalking again - If anyone believed to be goldie ever engages in any flaming
This doesn't mean that if grill get's banned, he's able to create a new account and come back to start over. Not at all. But Goldie's been banned for aprox a year now, consider me the probation board, and consider me granting a new lease on life, with many conditions attached.

You know, just make him stop creating useless/redundant threads and it's fine. He's not been really bad recently, so...

Well, I feel very strongly about my stance, I don't think either of them really care all that much. And in all honesty, while I know the things Goldie has done in the past regarding you were wrong, you're relentless pursuit of this is starting to go overboard.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
My opinion is just that, my own opinion of the situation. Maybe because I'm directly involved I notice your insistence regarding the issue more, but for whatever reason, I have noticed it, and for me, it has started to border on overboard. Again, just my opinion.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
In this case, you should not rely on your opinion. All I ever wanted was to draw attention to this thing. I never attacked or stalked him directly, neither did I insistently demanded for him to be banned. Thus, your opinion is better kept for yourself (yes, your statement angered me).

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
That's OK, but I couldn't disagree more.
My opinion is my opinion, but because of the position I'm in as an admin and owner of this site, I have no choice but to rely on it.
I understand your desire to draw attention to the issue, and obviously you have never stalked or attacked him. I never said any of that. I just think your insistence and campaigning for his banning publicly is getting to be a bit much. We get it, you don't like him, don't want him around. Because of your history with the user, you have every right to be involved, but it's getting to the point where YOUR opinion on the issue is obviously clouded by your past involvement.
So maybe you shouldn't rely on your opinion and let us handle it.

Re: Grill = jdgrill = Goldie?
This all goes back to the philosophy I started this forum with: People can change, people can grow as individuals, and any member who wants to be part of this forum will have that chance.
It bothers me that people want to discard that principle which I feel so very strongly about.
I just fail to see how Goldie has done anything that a year ban isn't sufficient punishment for. If he wants another chance, I don't see why we can't put our heads together, come up with specific rules he needs to follow, and ask him to agree to them if he wishes to come back.
I did it last time we let him back, and he violated them, so he was banned again. This perma-ban stuff, was never my idea, and I strongly disagreed with it then, and still do now.
That's all I'll say on this for now. Arsi, Loyal and I will have to talk via AIM to resolve this, until then, holding pattern.
