The new ones are not really bad, but they'd be only interesting as an addition.

I think that the basic set of smilies that we started off at this site (and BOM) should just always remain as the basis with new smilies being added. I am sure many agree with me on that.

Yeah, some basic ones should be preserved, especially since they are so commonly used across the web and IM: , , , ... I mean, I type those in without thinking when writing a sentence and expect the smiley to show up.

Yeah, those five, plus add the and the smilis. Those are the 7 that cover the basis of all of the simple emotions, I think. If you have that set in the choices, and then rest with the wacky ones we have now, I'd have no problem.

l dont think he means which ones you want to see come back from the old ones, but rather which specific keys you want for the new ones. like make = :hat: or something.

I am really not opposed to adding a few of the old ones back.

There are still a few more of these yet to come, but in general, I wanted more soliderity among the smilies. I wanted them to mesh more together, and I feel this fits the personality of the baord better.

I can always add Mike Q's Wink back, thats not a problem, but other than that, I don't see the need to add any others. Maybe you can convince me. Mike Q is kind of a special case, in that every single post of his contains that smiley, so I am more open to allowing its return.
