I'm just bringing up the forum rules because they appear to just be there and not taken into consideration, at least they aren't in many cases. Zep being the key character last night. There is no rule even saying you can't have a picture of another user in your avi/sig. And he wasn't warned, asked to take things down, nothing. Instead he was instantly banned. Such liberties are not provided to spammers on our site when we ban them. we've banned many bots, people who have advertised or come here to wreck the forum. such a rule is not followed. Zep, as far as i can see, was a person no one knew or cared about. the only impression, at least that he made to me, was him putting up a very offending picture of a member who you may/may not like, a signature that was extremely annoying and posts that are completely frowned upon. Judging by the fact that KJ, surprisingly has a much laxed atmosphere of forums that are actually moderated (whether consistently or not is besides the point), i don't see how anyone is going to sit here pretending that 'oh my god .. i may be breaking some rules'.
I've said this before and i'll say it again. Corpse, you've been here a couple of years and while the 2 of us do not see eye to eye on just about anything, i can still say that you've earned enough to warrant a more lax approach than a person whose posted 3 times and contributed nothing (which is quite evident by the fact that you have, never in the history of this board, ever been banned or warned (i think). You calling someone an idiot will be taken less likely than a complete stranger here. Again, i do not mean to speak for the admins or mods but its general human nature. you give something back, people will turn a blind eye. Not having their pictures as in the rule is irrelevent. everything will not be spelt out. the forum tells you not to directly attack, then don't. the ofrum has asked many to not do something similar. it has a history. if you're a new member, even if you can't see it, such an unwritten rule based upon past precident will be applied. once again, it goes back to the severity of what the member did. putting up a picture of just chip wouldn't have caused any banning or even a warning. he would have simply been told. however, again, i don't know him, mods don't know him and he calls someone insulting and puts a picture up. sounds like an unneeded troll to me.Alot of vague decisions is what I'm getting at. Nothing here sounds vague to me, pretty consistent. if anything, i'm quite surprised that this person here that no one knows who did nothing but attacked people in his short stay here got a week long ban. should have been banned indefinetely like we do every other troll. if i interpret the rule eagle put forth, this whole temp ban and no perma ban thing was only for community members here.
Finally, i don't quite understand why you seem to be turning this entire thing to something that naturally involves you. no one brought up your picture in this thread yet you feel the need to justify it like it has a bearing on the decision. I'm sure picture or not picture, the person was going to be banned. you keep bringing up your reasons for questioning yet people in a position to answer have neither had the opportunity to answer your questions yet or have done so (whether you were satisfied by the answer or not is a different matter).
