Okay, at first I'll post in this thread, then in another.

I read every single post here and found this I agree with and those I disagree with.

You see, there are two kinds of approaches as an admin, as far as I know.

You can either be more personally connected to the site and its users like Eagle.

Or you can act like a machine and not be connected to the boards at all, like Sean.

The former leads to some bias which are, in this situation, almost impossible to avoid. People are people. People have friends. They help their friends. I know that Eagle and bABA are trying their best to not be biased, but sometimes, they just can't help it. That is understandable. Not necessarily good, but understandable.

The latter couldn't care less about any of the posters or the boards. The latter would have made the decision to change the smilies and all of us would have shut up because we'd know that he can get us banned without any regrets and that ban would last longer than seven days. The latter version of an admin does not care about what happens on the boards and won't get into any discussions with us whatsoever.

What it comes down to is which of those you prefer. I know my answer would be clearly the former. Not perfect, but then again, what is perfect in our world? I think many of us tend to forget Sean's reign.


I still am not happy over the smilies, but I never implied I'd leave over that. What actually angered me a bit more than the smilies change was that a poll was set up that served no apparent purpose, but I think now I understand why it was done...as an attempt to cool the tension.

I can live without those smilies. I know where to get smilies I need.

I also understand that the issue is bigger than just the smilies. Obviously, Eagle has problems with the community inw hole as well as with certain posters. A thread like this is a good step towards improvement.

You know, Sean would have just banned everyone he doesn't like, deleted all the comments and moved the threads.

Obviously and thankfully that is not happening here.

As far as "snobs" go...well, we are movie geeks (most of us) I suppose, so there is no way around it, I fear. Some people will always feel like their opinion of movies is more worth than the opinions of other people. Some people will ALWAYS have a hard time accepting other people's opinions. I really do my best not to be this way. I don't think I purpousely ever tried to bash anyone's opinion on a movie, unless it was in jest. If I did, I apologize for that.

As far as fights between people here go...you can't avoid it, so don't even try. You have always tried to do everyone good and right all the time, Eagle and I have told you more than once that it can never work. You can't possibly ever please everyone. It is well-intended, but it just doesn't work with hunderds of people. I think you need to accept that. Someone will always feel neglected or not satisfied.

I must have missed the whole smilies thing. I never bothered commenting on them, as it wasn't really a big deal. Pretty trivial. There are definitely more important things to worry about than the brand of smilies that are being offered.

As much as me and Mav have had problems in the past, but I'm on his side this time. He didn't attack anyone this time, nor did he ask for any insults to come his way. There is no need to attack someone if he is just responding to what is being said about him.
