 The Abyss
Has anyone seen this movie?
An American nuclear submarine is attacked (during the cold war) and crashes underwater. The navy asks the workers of a nearby underwater oil rig who are joined by a number of navy SEALS to locate and investigate the cause of the crash. As the crew embark on their mission, they encounter a number of difficulties and discover that they may not be alone. There is something else down there.

The Abyss is hardly an indie.

The Abyss was supposed to be James Cameron's step into super stardom. After he did Aliens, this film cam eout in the summer of 89 and he was labeled the next Spielber. The film well, but not that well and Cameron established himself as a hardass and Ed Harris swore he would never work with him again. As a matter a fact, Harris to this day will not talk about his experience working on the film. But as for the film itself, I like it quite a bit. It is a sad story and it displays Cameron's touch of brilliance in many scenes. Michael Biehn is quite disturbing in the film but Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are just awesome. It is an under rated gem and although it is not Cameron's best work (it rfanks behind T2, Titanic, Aliens, True Lies and T1) it certainl;y is worth seeing.

For the past hour or so, he's been switching data back and forth between the two threads.
First he created Millions here, I told him it belonged in the Indie forum, it was moved. Then he created a second thread for The Abyss which was moved to the Critic forum. He then switched Millions to The Abyss and vice-versa.
sigh...
He obviously doesnt care about the movies. On principle alone, the threads should be deleted.

Extended version is one of my favorites of all time.
Cameron's best by a wide margin (in my op... etc.)
The scene between Harris and Mastrantonio... you know... THE SCENE. Is absolutely heart wrenching.
The much publisized angst on the set is obvious from the movie, everybody comes off as edgy.
