For right now, 'Sith' has got an 8.0 with 1,450 votes (I already gave it a 10 despite the fact I have yet to see it). Once the weekend is over, what rating do you think it will get and will it be on the top 250?

I think so.

Why? Because people were let down with the two previous prequels. Many will go into this with lower expectations (I know I am. Not on purpose either). If the movie is above average and better than the previous two films (which it seems to be), people will be satisfied. Therefore, it very well could become a member in the top 250 list.

Oh yeah. Your a cheating bastard. [-X

You can say any poll is a joke then. When I vote, IMDB assumes I have seen it. So it's not THEIR fault.

IMDB should allow no voting till opening weekend of a movie.

This might help a little. But, Star Wars fanatics will vote 10's no matter what. I don't think there is really anyway to avoid cheating when it comes to this subject.

But then you have the PT bashers. So it brings equal balance to the force.

You are right. You also have Lord's of the Rings/Star Trek fans giving it a 0 and vice versa. It's all really a vicious circle.

We will never truly know the exact (true!) figure for any movie at IMDB.

But doesn't IMDB try to stop fanboys and only count SOME votes to try and stop this problem?

IMDB is not exactly a monitered site. Ever been to their message boards? I don't think I have ever seen such a group of morons anywhere else. I don't know how they work the voting. I don't think they do. But, I am not sure.

I will be the power of balance and I will vote 1 to even out the score not to mention I will create a dozen double accounts to balance out the jedi force of voting. Touche

Most polls are jokes. And you are pathetic for playing the game.

I dont know... is there alot of wookie hair all over the carpet and are the lightsabers all lying on the floor. As for riddles, "Grab the pebble from my hand, you must. Control leads to peacefulness leads to tranquility leads to clarity leads to cleaniness"

So do you use those 13 accounts to vote 1s on Spielberg movies?

Of course (excluding Jaws and Raiders).

Most users who voted on IMDb are responsible ones and not just fanboys or who purposely sabotage a movie. It's a much better grading system than Yahoo's or some others, and that's why its top 250 list is very respectable, consisting of movies from different generations and all quite well-received.

Anyway, as for Sith, I don't expect it to be very high on the top 250 list, if it enters at all. Most films drop in average with more votes, and I expect Sith to do the same. The best it can do will probably be similar to Spider-Man 2, with an average of 7.9 and enough votes to get in the bottom of the list. More likely though, the average will be around 7.7.

Sorry, but any monkey with a computer can get on IMDB and cast a vote for a movie (that includes fanboys)

Im sure that the majoritiy of the votes on IMDB are from SW fans who havent even seen the movie yet. IHow is that an accurate rating system for a movie?

Watch the film first and THEN post your vote

only the top 1000 users have their votes count towards the top 250 anyway....people who have voted on thousands of films, ld imagine. and considering the top 250 score is always within .2 or so of the regular score, l'd say it doesnt get abused THAT much.

l could be wrong about that, but l doubt it. im never wrong.

I'm quite certain the scores from the top 1000 users are at least weighted more heavily than the rest. And to be one of the top 1000 users, I think it's more than just grading millions of films, but actually writing enough reviews as well.

Anyway, I'm tired of explaining to people who don't understand how IMDb works. If it can be abused by fanbase, then why TPM and AOTC are far away from the top 250 list.

One good example is Manderlay: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342735/. Its arithmetic mean is actually 6.3, but since the scores are very polarized so far with 11 10's and 10 1's, the average that IMDb came up with is 3.2.
