THE CROW: Remake
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=100799Bad idea if you ask me. The Crow is a fantastic film, and the character and story isn't popular, proven by the sequel and subsequent DTV releases performing badly. But if it makes McAvoy's career end, then I'm for it!

Re: THE CROW: Remake
I cannot stand James McAvoy, really not. Too bad he's been in a lot of movies I liked.

They should go after Quvenzhane Wallis before she's out of their price range.

The only two Crow movies I saw are the original and the one with Kirsten Dunst, both of which I really liked.

The Crow remake
Quote: After playing Loki, God of Mischief, in Marvel Studios' Thor, last year's blockbuster Marvel's The Avengers, and returning in the role later this year for the sequel Thor: The Dark World, British actor Tom Hiddleston may be switching from villain to hero as he's in early talks to play Eric Draven in Relativity Media's reimagining of James O' Barr's gothic comic character The Crow. Previously turned into a 1994 cult movie starring the late Brandon Lee, the concept involves a man who returns from death to get revenge on those who killed him, a movie which spawned a number of sequels. O'Barr wrote the original comic to deal with the death of his girlfriend. This new version will be directed by Spanish filmmaker F. Javier Guttierez from a script by Cliff Dorfman (Warrior) with production planned to start in the fall depending on various factors. Ed Pressman (Pressman Film), Kevin Misher (Misher Films) are producing with Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, Jeff Most and others. The popular British actor pushed for the role over dinner with the producers after doing his own make-up test in London with plans to do full makeup tests before making a final decision. Previously, Scottish actor James McAvoy was up for the role but Hiddleston is arguably a much bigger star with a huge female fanbase that could bring in a much larger audience for this version of The Crow http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=103218Ugh, this is a bad, bad, bad idea. No need to remake a modern classic. And if you absolutely "need" to remake this, do not have Hiddleston playing Eric Draven. Make up another damn name. Eric Draven is a cult character and this will piss off that fan base. For me, I adore The Crow, and I will be hating on this movie a lot. They will never ever be able to recreate why that one was so fantastic, it will just be flashy and shit with rushed dialogue.

Doesn't mean I have to be all jolly and happy just because it's happened before. I happen to love The Crow, so this is like them remaking Star Wars or The Godfather for most other people.

Re: The Crow remake
Questionable career move for a gifted up-and-coming actor.
The Crow is such a film of its era, in a good way. Perfectly aligned with the moment when Nine Inch Nails, etc. were a core part of the cultural zeitgeist.

Re: THE CROW: Remake
A definite step down from the various people who were in contention, such as Bradley Cooper and James McAvoy. Nothing strictly against Evans, but he seems the actor you call when Fassbender, Hardy, McAvoy, etc. say no.

Re: THE CROW: Remake
I agree, but he's definitely more of an Eric Draven, at least to me, than Tom Hiddleston, Bradley Cooper and McAvoy. This was never going to be a huge project, so a smaller actor might suit it.
That being said, this shouldn't even have been greenlit.

Re: THE CROW: Remake
So now Jason Momoa is in talks to be the new Eric Draven. Ugh.
Isn't he, like, 7ft? And he's built like a brick shit house! Even not having the Crow's powers, he could beat up anybody. This is a stupid idea.

Re: THE CROW: Remake
Can't believe we went from McAvoy and Hiddleston to Jason Momoa. Ouch. As Algren said, he seems completely wrong for the part. Eric Draven is lithe, a heroin-chic Gothic type. His power is supernatural. He is not a musclebound brute. Although now I am reminding myself of the anti-Cruise Jack Reacher fans...

Re: THE CROW: Remake
I feel like (possibly shifting McAvoy down a couple of spots) that we're trending downward casting-wise.
Bradley Cooper James McAvoy Tom Hiddleston Luke Evans Jack Houston Nicholas Hoult Jack O’Connell Jason Momoa
I really can't wait to see who they've got lined up for when Momoa departs 4th quarter. Jai Courtney? Scott Adtkins?

Good news! Momoa's out.
Hopefully this remake dies now too.
