The BIG Movies in the weeks after SW - May 27 & June 3
What movies are you looking forward to in the weeks after Star Wars.
Especially for the person who is sick of Star Wars threads.
Lots of different choices for everyone.
A nice mix.

The Longest Yard - looking forward to this - just for remembering the older version

Is anyone else concerned that Cinderella Man seem like too much of a knock off of Seabiscuit?
It seems like the exact same story. Underdog sports figure (horse, boxer), set during the Great Depression, achieves unexpected success and uplifts the nation.
True, Cinderella Man has Howard, Crowe and Zellweger, and that is an advantage over Seabiscuit. However, the fact that it's about boxing, as a subject, is going to automatically turn many women off. (I'm one of them. Horse racing, I'm OK. Boxing, not so much.)

I don't think the boxing factor turned many women off of Million Dollar Baby. I know it was *about* a woman, but...still.
It's true that it does look a lot like Seabiscuit, but this is also a true story.

Nothing was really cut, nothing major anyways. Most of the hard gore is still in the film. Even though I've seen HIGH TENSION, it's definetely the most interesting out of all of them.

The Longest Yard -- I'll be there opening day. It looks pretty good. Hopefully it won't be something like Mr. Deeds.
Madagascar -- I'll definetly see this sometime in theaters. It looks pretty good.
June 3
Cinderella Man -- Same as above
High Tension -- I do not know a damn thing about this movie. It'll probably be a rental sometime down the road.
Lords of Dogtown -- It looks okay, but nothing more than a rental.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants -- It looks awful, but it's not my type of movie.

I think Cinderella Man looks like it is going to tank. What a silly film to release during the summer and the trailer looks abyssmal....

Counter-programming for the older movie-goers / Russell Crowe & Renee Z fans - maybe?

Very interesting so far as you can see there is no real clear cut movie winner winning the above poll.

So what do you think of these movies?

The Longest Yard:
Madagascar:

Only movie I'm looking a bit forward to is The Longest Yard. Don't know why but Cinderella Man doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Maybe because of Zellweeger. I hate her. Can't stand this face.

Those are probably my first three but I really hope Madagascar is worthy.
I am not thrilled at the voices
David Schimmer
Ben Stiller
Jada Smith
and even
Chris Rock - he hasn't hit a home run in awhile. And I guess he has 2 movies opening on the same day with TLY and Mad. Must be a nice pay day, at least.
