 Rank the lightsaber fights What's your favorite and why?
My favorite is between Empire and Return. I absolutely love the Music in Return of the Jedi, but I love the different levels of Empire so much. Of the prequels, a lot are pretty great, but Phantom Menace still edges out some of the other great ones of revenge of the sith.

2. Return of the Jedi
3. Phantom Menace
4. Yoda vs. Palpatine (ROTS)
5. Obi Wan vs. Anakin (ROTS)
6. Obi Wan, Anakin vs. Dooku (ROTS)
7. Yoda vs. Dooku (AOTC)
8. Mace vs. Palpatine (ROTS)
9. Obi Wan vs. General Grievous (ROTS)
10. Obi Wan vs. Vader (ANH)
11. Obi Wan, Anakin vs. Dooku (AOTC)

However the duels between Vader and Luke in ESB and ROTJ were better from a story point of view.

Re: Rank the lightsaber fights I disagree, the emotional impact of Darth vs. Luke is much higher than say the Darth Maul battle. That is purely fantastic style and it's mostly there for the sake of being there. Darth vs. Luke on the other hand is only one can leave, father vs. son, son trying to save father, luke fulfilling his father's prophecy, etc.
Count Dooku was always a weak villain as he never really was personally involved with anyone outside of the line of dialogue that he was Yoda's padawan. I wish they never killed Darth Maul as that could have added an element of revenge that was severely lacking in the prequels

Re: Rank the lightsaber fights I agree with gun about the whole emotional shit. But still just as a fight the duel in ep1 trumps all  Close 2nd is Anakin vs Obi in Ep3  & close 3rd is seeing Yoda fight for first time in Ep2  geektastic Prequels made all the fights in the OT look lame tbh

Re: Rank the lightsaber fights I still think Jedi has a greatly choreographed and shot fight scene with awesome music that rivals most of the prequel fights. And ESB almost reminds me of an intricate version of Game of Death, and it's still pretty amazing when look lost. First Obi Wan died or committed suicide, then Luke loses his hand and worst, his triumph is even more important in Jedi.
I do agree Duel of Fates is by far the best fight. Great all around, and well shot. And Yoda pulling a light saber for the first time was awesome, but it's literally 20 seconds and there for the sake of having it.

Re: Rank the lightsaber fights The best fight is not always the one with the most explosions but that has some emotion.
The fights in the new films were of course better as they could use CGI and such but the lack the emotional impact...
Remember the scene in ROTJ, when Vader has Luke hiding away... Vader tries to convince him to to turn to the dark side and Vader says "if you will not join the dark side maybe your..... sister will"
Luke Yells "Never!!!"
Then you have this very passionate and desperate duel between Vader and Luke with some really epic music.
That level of emotion is never ever reached in the Prequel star Wars fight scenes...
In the new films you get "you were my Brother Anakin!!!!"

Even so Duel of the Fates was quite emotional as well....
