The Chronicles of Narnia Trailer in Extra Large Quicktime
http://movies.channel.aol.com/franchise ... xtra_large
Mmm... well this is not a case of the trailer is a big resolution making it look any better then the bootlegged one two weeks ago. It's a lot clearer that the effects look rather cheap to me. The orc masks in Lord of the Rings didn't look that realistic, but they were seamlessly integrated and it's a small thing for me. But here, they're far more grating as the CGI looks very mediocre. And maybe it's just me, but the colors are so bold for the production. Bright red, bright green, it just looks like the person making the sets could only make them with Crayola colors, and the result ain't pretty. I still think it looks like it has potential, but there's not a lot to make it look any different then Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Lemoney Snickets. Hopefully the final trailer is better, because this... well, it looks like they really might have blown it. Maybe they should've just waited another 10 years.

Yeah, the good copy doesn't really change much. I still don't see a potential $300M+ movie that some others do.

Narnia is a big deal. A majorly big deal. This trailer is pretty captivating, my memory is shady over the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, but i'll be first in line to see this. It looks fantastic to me.

They can make this trailer as humungous and as hi-res as they want, it still sucks.

I thought the trailer was a bit interesting. It didn't blow me away or anything but some parts were interesting. I think this will do hefty business during the Christmas season.

People are grasping for straws here. King Kong will hamstring it's legs as that opens in it's second weekend, and it ain't moving for the world folks. Just as Kingdom of Heaven bombed this weekend for looking no different then any other epic, Narnia will likely dissapoint for the same lack of identity.

Narnia and Kong aren't really the same target audience, and I'm guessing you have no clue how huge the Christian fanbase for this is.*shrug* Lemony Snicket this ain't.

The books had plenty of Christian subtext, but I'm not really sure how big the Christian fanbase really is for a Narnia adaptation It's not like they hand out the books at Sunday Mass.
Or do they?
I think it still has the potential to be a hit, but I'd say its chances of hitting 300 million are slim. Unless it's really good, that is. Remember, FOTR got to $300 million with the help of some huge legs, excellent WOM and plenty of Oscar buzz. If it'd been crappy, it probably would've struggled to squeak past $150 million after its impressive (but not stellar) opening weekend.

Looked bizarre to me. I doubt it will be a big smash. Looks more like a decent moderate hit, 150 or so.

Meh. I liked this teaser much better than the HP4 one.
I think it will be a large hit.
You underestimate the books fan base.

Where in Puerto Rico do you live? Cuz where I live I hadn't even heard of The Chronicles of Narnia until a few years ago. Not that I went to church every Sunday as a kid, but I did study in a Catholic school and no teacher ever mentioned the series to us.
Anyway, I'm downloading the trailer right now and so far, so good. I can't wait to see this movie.

:???: I dont get where all the negativity over the trailer is coming from :???: This far outdoes the HP4 trailer and it definately looks like a crowd pleaser. So why all the negativity :?: :???:

The fact that it far outdoes the HP4 trailer (and it does) but still is pretty bad really makes me worried about this winter. Thank god we at least have King Kong.

Ass kicking my ass!
Just watched the trailer for the first time. In a nutshell: fantasy light for little kiddies. The colors too colorful, the weather too good, the special effects too obvious, the main protagonists too young. I would even go as far as to say it has that Dungeon&Dragony cheap look to it. Liked the first half before the trailer took us to Narnia though...

The movie you mean, right? If so, I sorta agree. But that just might be the colours. :-)
