Halloween Appreciation Thread
I just bought Halloween II the other day on dvd, and I couldn't believe how good it was. I don't remember it being that good, and fast moving. It's a really well done sequel in my opinion, and the whole hospital concept gave it a claustropohic feel. Anyway, I was wondering if there are any Halloween fans here? I've been a fan since I was 9 or 10. I firt saw the original when it was Halloween, and USA was showing it. I like a lot of the films in the franchise, although it has its share of bad sequels, here's how I would rate all of them.
Halloween ****/****
Halloween II ***1/2 /*****
Halloween II *
Halloween 4 ***/*****
Halloween 5 **1/2/ ****
Halloween 6 **
Halloween H20 ***
Halloween: Resurrection **
I really like these movies a lot, and Michael Myers is one of the best horror movie villians ever. I hope that I'm not the only Halloween fan here, because it should definitely have a bigger fanbase, and I can't wait till Halloween 9. I've been hearing that they are going to bring the franchise back to its roots where Michael Myers stalks babysitters, and all that stuff. It sounds like it is going to be a turning point for the franchise, and I cannot wait!

Did they make two versions of Halloween II or is that a typo?

Halloween -- 10/10
Halloween II -- 8/10
Halloween III -- 5/10
Halloween IV -- 8/10
Halloween V -- 6/10
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers -- 7/10
Halloween H2O -- 3/10
Halloween: Resurrection -- 4/10
The last two have been so disappointing. I hope the planned Halloween 9 can turn the franchise around.

I own several of them, but nothing surpasses the original imo. I've seen it A LOT, more times than I care to say, and it's a classic I never tire of.
One thing I noticed was that Judith Myers, Michael's sister, died for some very bad sex. Think about it. Michael was watching from outside the window when they were kissing and then went upstairs to have sex. As soon as they go upstairs Michael goes around the house, gets a kinfe in the kitchen and walks towards the stairs. This takes like one minute. When he approaches the stairs we see that the guy has already finished and is putting his shirt back on. DAMN! She died for that???

Halloween III is actually pretty good when removed from the rest of the series. It gets a lot of unnecessary flak just because Michael isin't in it.
My ratings?
Halloween - 9/10
Halloween II - 7.5/10
Halloween III - 6.5/10
Halloween IV - 7/10
Halloween V - 5.5/10
Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers - 5/10 (The Producers cut is closer to a 7, though.)
Halloween: H20 - 5/10
Halloween: Resurrection - 3/10
The recent ones are abysmal.
As for the level of consistent quality, it's the closest to A Nightmare On Elm Street the horror genre has, but it's still off by a long shot.

Halloween has something special. Halloween H20 is also special, but what were the other films thinking?
Especially Halloween III: Season of the Witch, that is complete bollocks and possibly the worst film i have ever seen.

I love the first two films, but the second one slightly edges out the first in overall entertainment. The first one was FAR scarier, but the second was more action-paced but was still pretty damn scary. I enjoyed it just a bit more. Both are masterpieces of horror. Also, I don't mind the fourth movie. It's not a great movie, but it's not terrible. The fifth and sixth, however..
Halloween - 9/10
Halloween II - 9.2/10
Halloween III - 2/10
Halloween IV - 6.5/10
Halloween V - 4.5/10
Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers - 5/10
Halloween: H20 - 7/10
Halloween: Resurrection - 4/10

I agree with Halloween II being more action packed, but the original is better because it set the standards for a lot of horror movies. Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday The 13th are not scary, but they are cheesy fun. I would have to say the Halloween series is much better than the both of them.

Halloween 2 7/10
___________
Halloween 3 2/10
Halloween 4 4/10
Halloween 5 1/10
Halloween 6 4/10
__________
Halloween H20 8/10
Halloween Resurrection 8/10
I love the same story, and tend to forget about H3,4,5 and 6 although i own them all on dvd,

The original Halloween is a classic.
I didn't see Halloween(s) II-V.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers is an abysmal piece of garbage.
Halloween: H20 was decent, and Halloween: Resurrection was bleh.

i agree. it's not great by any means, but it gets so much undue flak because of the title. it's a decent, watchable movie
