I thought you said that the scariest movie you ever saw was The Grudge.. change your opinion over time?

Scariest film i've seen in theaters. I've seen a lot of scarier, older films on video.

Ahhh, I gotcha. Damn, what are some of the other scarier ones, because you seemed REALLY rattled by The Grudge.

Well, Black Christmas is one. I also find the original Nightmare On Elm Street very scary.

To BKB from below - "BLACK CHRISTMAS" and it was made I believe in 1974 long before the HALLOWEEN movies came out and it started the whole: "The Caller is calling from inside the House" type of fear and not only was this creepy as hell.

I think also there have been other caller / phone movies.

- There was a famous one with Barbara Stanwick. I forget the name and the year - probably in the 50's.

- And there was Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin - think about '68.

- Demon Seed - probably around '74 with the computer calling

and some others.

Yeah but BLACK CHRISTMAS did it more effectively and more chilling then the movies you've mentioned... Rent it and see for yourself, but then again, you might think it's somewhat dated to by todays standards..

One of the Scarier, unsettling movies that's now making it's way to DVD is a film titled "BLACK CHRISTMAS" and it was made I believe in 1974 long before the HALLOWEEN movies came out and it started the whole: "The Caller is calling from inside the House" type of fear and not only was this creepy as hell, but the caller had the ability to make these animal sort of noises when he called and it was just freaky, surreal and insane sounding... Todays generation might not think much of it compared to todays' horror movies, but this 1 ranks right at the top for me more than anything I can think of and let me tell ya: It's hard for any horror film to scare me, but goddamn if this one didn't make me think an awful lot about it.. I highly recommend renting this if you find it..

Black Christmas is one of the best horror films of all time. Scary as hell, too. Good pick, BKB.

I'm serious Man.. There aren't many movies that are as unnerving to me as this one, even by todays standards and watched in the proper setting preferrably with no lights on makes this even more effective.... It now occurred to me that in that film, that was a Young Margot Kidder in that movie before SUPERMAN or The Amityville Horror...

most horrid!

ahmed was thinking about listing B. Christmas before he read this thread :-k

YOU ARE RIGHT IT IS VERY FREAKY

and isn't it based on some urban legend or something??

Saw is the best horror film ever.

Close contenders are Scream, Dog Soldiers and Evil Dead 2. Whether or not they are classed as horror, i dont care.
