Statham leads charge in Boll's Dungeon Siege

Mike Goodridge in Los Angeles 01 July 2005 04:00

Jason Statham, Leelee Sobieski, Ron Pearlman, John Rhys-Davies, Matthew Lillard, Kristanna Loken and Burt Reynolds have all signed on to star in Uwe Boll's latest video game adaptation Dungeon Siege.

The film, which starts shooting next week in Vancouver, Canada, is again produced by Shawn Williamson of Brightlight Pictures, the Vancouver production outfit which produced Boll's BloodRayne.

Boll is directing and executive producing Dungeon Siege, which follows the life of lowly Farmer on a mission to conquer an unspeakably evil army and save his family.

Based on the game by Gas Powered Games, Dungeon Siege is scripted by Doug Taylor, David S Freeman and Glen Benest; joining Boll as executive producer is Wolfgang Herold. Williamson and Daniel Clarker are producers.

This film marks Boll's fourth film from a video game adaptation after BloodRayne, Alone In The Dark and House Of The Dead.

Why are talented actors like Jason Statham and Leelee Sobieski reduced to starring in a Uwe Boll film?

I guess everyone needs a paycheck.

What?! Does Kristanna Loken want to spend whatever career she has appearing in every Uwe Boll film? This is her second straight after starring in Bloodrayne (which looks absolutely horrid). Also, more confounding is why Statham would agree to appear in a Boll film? Did he bother watching either House of the Dead or Alone in the Dark? Anyway, Dungeon Siege has easily the best cast of a Boll film thus far so one can only hope that he's learned how to direct by now so their talent isn't thoroughly wasted.

Kristanna Loken is pretty talented too.
It seems after T3 no one was particularly interersted in the Terminatrix, despite her chilling performance [and her status as my favourite terminator. Girls seem to scare the shit out me more]

LeeLee Sobieski was such a promising actress. She looked a lot like Tea Leoni in deep impact. a Mini-Leoni.

Pretty soon Uwe Boll will have the whole video game genre all to himself

Its smart because they can just quote critics reviews "best video game adaptation ever
(which isnt saying much when Uwe Boll directed 90% of those video game movies)

p.s Can someone please point out to Uwe Bowl that

a) Video Game movies have a not-great track record
b) Bad directors dont tend to make the best of movies
c) Combining a & b = worst movie ever stature

The Directing- Directed by Hollywoods favorite director Uwe Ball who brought us the classic House of the Dead. Telling us "Yes, movies can get this utterly bad and that's just the beginning to my deadly saga of awful movies". At least it is said to be directed by Uwe Ball. Without being told I would have guessed a monkey was kidnapped from the Congo, brought here and forced to make opinions on how to make the movie under penalty of being shocked. The director of photography was probably a camcorder taped onto a skateboard and pushed forward until it hits a wall. On the scenes where the camera should stay still it is constantly moving, not allowing us to stop anywhere and when it should be moving in action, the camera stops for some reason.

Seriously. If i were a producer you can bet your bottom dollar id be telling Uwe Boll to fuck off and never come near my studio office again.

Who on earth continues to comission Uwe Boll movies i hear you ask?

Why Uwe Boll! If i recall correctly, Alone In The Dark was only distributed by the studio. Boll paid for it and they agreed to distribute it for a share.

Hes easily a worse director than Paul Anderson [the non punch drunk love one] and thats saying something.

I think we need to ask ripper to "deal" with him using a paddle and a spork.

I love how not only is he making crappy videogame movies, but he's making crappy videogame movies that have no fanbase and arent even popular whatsoever.

It does not make any sense whatsoever to make films of games without a fanbase unless said game has a story that would make a good film, fanbase or not. Dungeon Siege doesn't seem to be such a case. Uwe Boll films will continue to lose money and hopefully he will eventually run out. By the way, does anyone know where he made his money in the first place because it couldn't have been from movies?

Speaking of The Transporter, did anyone else see the trailer for Transporter 2 on War of the Worlds? Looked exactly like Man on Fire to me.

Yeha so it it got some laughs in the theaters.

Uwe Boll is the worst director of our decade. 40 years of my name Tim Burton Jr is going to direct a film with his name onit.

NOOOOOO! This is just pathetic- can't believe these respected actors signed up for Uwe Boll's latest cornucopia of shit. But, on the bright side, it will be quite interesting to see what Boll does with a $60 million budget and what distributor the movie gets.
