The Sixth Sense beats 'em all. This is his only true masterpiece. Shyamalan is rather overrated. He started out well, but then his urge to end every single movie with a twist started affecting the quality of his movies. I think he has potential, but he needs to break out of his formula.
Unbreakable and Signs are pretty much on par. It took me a while to somewhat appreciate Unbreakable. At first I hated it, but now, I think it is a decent movies. Signs was good, but ruined by its ending.
The Village was just plain BAD. Biggest disappointment of 2004, by far!

Anyone think the next M. Night twist will be that there is no twist, which would be a huge shocker coming from him.

Re: Your favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie
I loved THE VILLAGE and really enjoyed SIGNS, THE SIXTH SENSE and LADY IN THE WATER. I've never seen UNBREAKABLE and THE HAPPENING was just terrible.

'Lady in the Water' is insultingly gawky.

Re: Your favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie
Unbreakable for me. Followed by The Sixth Sense which was ruined for me as I knew the ending before seeing it.
Not a big fan of Signs and I dont hate on The Village like many do.

Re: Your favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie
Easily Signs for me. Such a thrilling, creepy, well constructed movie including the twist.
1. Signs - 9.6 2. Unbreakable - 9.2 3. The Sixth Sense - 9.0 4. The Village - 8.8 5. Lady in the Water - 7.8
I will never see the Happening just so my opinion of him won't go any lower.

Haven't seen Happening or Unbreakable.
But I've loved every single one of his movies.

Re: Your favorite M. Night Shyamalan movie
Unbreakable, followed closely by Sixth Sense, are easily his best films.
Signs is his only other noteworthy accomplishment. But The Happening is his only true shitfest.

I updated the poll with the two films that came after The Village.
Those were his two worst offerings. Ugh.

Unbreakable is his best.
But I still maintain everything he's made is at least worthwhile.
