Not enough anime discussion I feel
After making passing glances at a few pages past of the ‘Cinemania’ forum I have deemed myself an expert on the forum and all threads past.
Seriously though, there doesn’t seem to be enough if any anime discussion…
So I ask you, what are your opinions on the genre? Are there any particular films that stand out to you?
Personally I love the genre, but that’s because I’m a filthy fan boy whore. But that’s not the only reason, look at the brilliance that anime offers;
Blood : The Last Vampire : One of the most beautiful films of all time, which sadly was somewhat let down by its run time
Armitage III : A blade runner-esque look at human relations with robots coupled with an intriguing love story
Black Jack : A somewhat haunting tale of the value of human life and of mercenary surgeons
Cowboy Bebop : The Movie : A brilliant film to an even better series
And pretty much anything put out by “Studio Ghibliâ€Â
So, what say you?

When anime's at its top form, I love it a lot. I think a lot of people are turned off by it because of all of all the crap they show on TV, its a real shame though.
And of course, there's Hayao Miyazaki. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are both somewhere in my top 15 of all time. I'd say if you haven't seen anime, those 2 would be great introductions.
I also love a series called Fooly Cooly, its only six episodes (and way too expensive here) but its a fantastic series.

Hayao Miyazaki and studio Ghibli just have an awesome power to churn out films that are not simply fantastic to watch but also carry meaningful messages.
Mononoke, Spirited Away and Nausicaa are my cream of the crop
However grave of the fireflies is still extrodinarily powerful, and Howl's moving castle is looking to be another hit.

One Ghibli film that I am looking forward to seeing if it Disney gets around to it is Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo Sumeseba).
Grave of the fireflies is a great film, but I can't watch it again. It is without question the most depressing film I have ever seen.

Incendia, you may like the two threads above. We tend to shuffle anime into Over Seas/Indies because of their origin and the fact they would get dwarfed here and pushed off the first page quickly. I'd love to hear from you, as I've only recently started watching a bit.
I've seen Ghost in the Shell,
La Blue Girl (one ep)
Spirited Away
Cowboy Beebop
Steamboy
and Howl's Moving Castle comes out next week.
In fact, if you're worried about this thread, you can request it be transferred over there if you like.

Yeh. It was hillarious. About the smell of her panties and trying to prolong an orgasm to defeat the bad guy with all those odd appendages.
What's hentai?

"sex ninjas" <Pruin> my my, this world certainly lacks sex ninjas <StormGrass> imagine how it'd be like if we DID have any...mm <Pruin> any hot chicks here wanna dress up like a ninja and fuck my (and/or others) brains out? * StormGrass nearly grows a stiffy <airwaffle> if sexual frustration was harnessable energy, this channel could power the US

She most certainly is.
When I was back in school, we had an anime club, but I haven't seen much the past few years except for Spirited Away.

Though I occasionally watch them, the only anime tv series that I watched from beginning to end is Magic Knight Rayearth and the entire Dragon Ball series.
A friend of mine recommended Naruto to me. How is that one?

I am now discovering Anime. I've never really been a fan of it, but that's because I never gave it the interest that it deserved. Anyway, I recently added Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Akira to my queue on Netflix. I really enjoy Adult Swim on Cartoon Network where they show a few Anime shows back to back. They are quite interesting. I think a lot of people don't like it because it is different, and in a way scary. Not to me, but I could see how it would be to other people. I also really think Howl's Moving Castle looks amazing, and I'm really looking forward to it. Does anyone have any Anime flicks to recommend me besides the three listed above?

In my humble opinion, Naruto rocks.
Sadly since its taken off the inevitable segregation has occured. As support grows for Naruto, its critics are becoming more pronounced.
So now you either have to hate it or be a 'Narutard'.
*sigh*
