EROS (Roger Ebert gives Wong Kar Wai's part 4 stars)
http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wip/us/med/er ... qt_500.mov
Both Steven Soderbergh's part and Wong Kar Wai's part are getting mostly good reviews.
Unlucky, Michelangelo Antonioni's part is getting mostly bad reviews.

Antonioni is like all the Italian directors. One point in their lives they cross-over from granduer and insightful to self-indulgent and expository. Ah well, it seems to be a trend in the Italian greats. These three piece movies never quite sat well with me. I've only seen Spirits of the Dead, and RoGoPa, but I've heard of a few others as well. I like how this one is branching out from just European directors though.

Bwahahaha! Sorry neo, but when you see Soderbergh and Antonioni's names, light bulbs should have gone off somewhere in the vicinity of your head. Of those three I'd say Wai is the least self-indulgent in his use of gratuitious sex, and he's not got that clean a record with all the masturbation scenes in Fallen Angels.

Ehehehehe. Its commonly known that American movies are oddly sanitized in all the wrong ways. Sexuality is just not a big deal elsewhere, but here, you're more lucky, as the saying goes, to shoot a woman's breast off than to tough it. I think I remember Lecter saying Bad Education was given the equivalency of PG-13 in Germany while over here it wasn't even R, it was NC-17.
Anyways, Wai is not that sexual actually. Its impossible for him to be, every movie I've ever seen of his is basically all about alienated, lonely, people. Minimal mack, cause of it. I think In the Mood for Love they Kiss maybe once. There's alot of staring, and saddness, and avoidance (since they're both married). It has that Pyramus and Thisbee to it of two people living right next to each other, seperated only by a wall, communicating through a whole and never meeting in person. Well, they do a bit here, but you get the drift? At the end, I just realized, he also looks through a hole in the brickwall. I think a might bo onto something I never thought of before.
So, the three shorts it is. Tempet to say the truth that if I go, it'll most likely be to see how far Antonioni has slipped. Heh, Once you've done L'Avventura and Blow-Up, there's nowhere to go but down i guess.

Pretty Woman and Love Actually got the equivalent of PG over here, while rated R in the states.
I think Four Weddings and a Funeral got R in the States as well, while it got the equivalent of G in Germany.
On the other hand, The Ring and Boogeyman got the equivalent of R in Germany...

BTW, although Antonioni's part gets mostly bad reviews, the sex/nude scenes in Antonioni's part are more explicit than other two parts.
I suddenly remember "Beyond the Clouds". It's a average movie. However, this movie contains several hot nude scenes, such as [the hottest Sophie Marceau nude scene ever made].

I would have never guessed it.
@Lecter, yes, because the rating system there is more about violence and less about sex I guess. That's the way I would rate movies too.

Roger Ebert's review
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbc ... 23002/1023
Surprisly, he gives Wong Kar-Wai's part 4 stars.
As expected, he gives Michaelangelo Antonioni's part 1 star.

Which should say something about Antonioni's piece.
Oh well, I will forgive him for eternity and a day because of Blow-Up and L'Avventura.

It's not just Ebert. The consensus is pretty much that Wong gave the best piece, and Antonioni had the worst. They didn't know what he was thinking.

Haha, I swear, it's so universal too. Would've been hillarious if thehy switched Antonioni's piece with someone elses.

Nah, I still enjoy how old italian directors force their gratuitous sex on America. Its the only thing that'll help us get over how taboo it is here.
Lecter, after you watch Blow-Up, I started a thread on it (here) months ago that no one has responded to yet. Check it out, but not until you've seen the film, since that way it doesn't give anything away.
