Alfonso Cuaron!! Maribel Verdu! Mexico.

Almost too much excitement for me.

While little is known as of now, this will be a family drama set in 1970's Mexico and will star Maribel Verdu (Pan's Labyrinth, Y Tu Mama Tambien.) It will also likely be shot digitally shot.

So more than anything this is a thread for people to get all hyper about it over the next year or so. And if that isn't the case...well, there's enough excitement in me to make up for the lack of it in everyone else anyway.



(And in somewhat unrelated news, I don't know if you guys heard but Maribel Verdu was invited to join the AMPAS last year. yay!!)

Bah, I kinda hoped he'd keep making terrific mainstream movies. I have no desire to watch a digitally shot period family drama set in Mexico. Like, ever.

Look at it this way. Would you want to see a digitally shot period family drama set in Scunthorpe directed by Spielberg? Or would you rather see him make another Indiana Jones?

I want Cuaron to make another Indiana Jones...

I'll take a period/digital version of Y Tu Mama Tambien.



Part of the reason why I like him so much is that he can go from something like A Little Princess to Y Tu Mama Tambien to Harry Potter to Children of Men and do an excellent job with each one of them. Y TU Mama Tambien, though, is on a league of its own.

So...whatever happened to this?
