why the hell do you bring up lollywood. who the fuck cares about lollywood.

the 90s bollywood era is dead. there is literally 1 or 2 good films coming out of bollywood now. to me, i lost interest the day bollywood became a 3 hour commercial on how hot their women are and how they plan on treating them in an objectification manner.

hmm not sure what u meant by objectification manner but you know what I would recommend you to watch Chak De India which is a great movie and has no dances and no hot women showing off.

It has some songs but no actor in it is singing.

Basically it was a movie that i wasn't willing to watch at all but was taken by my freinds and walla i loved it.

thats the problem with indian films. there are so few good good indian films left today that people can literally recommend that one or 2 single films.

true very true. Eventhough i love dhoom 2 i would not recommend it to my international freinds.
Only back home in india i can recommend it to people. But funny this is that my freinds in india didn't like it too yet it became a blockbuster of epic proportions. I guess when u put too much sexy stuff in the movie the audiences are willing to spend money. I know i went to watch it to see girls in tight suits and bikinis and short skirts.

Can't agree with ya there... Bollywood is, and always has been the world's most equal opportunity "exploiter"* of women and men!

There are some good movies here and there today but i am more of a fan of 1990-2002 Bollywood and Amitabh Bachan Bollywood from 1975-1980's...

I hate black and white movies as well as old movies.

I am into the new almost sleazy big budget movies like D2 etc.

Funny but a movie called JOKER is coming that will be futuristic sci fi superhero type movie.

Then Prince of India in the vain of Prince of persia.


Love Story 2050 comes out next april and will be futurisitc and have robot or something and vfx designed by WETA.

i pity thee...


I like some of the new films as well, but some of those old films were just as good and even better, and they did it with much less...

Like come on your going to tell me American gangster is better then Goodfellas or Godfather???

Some old hindi films are like the star wars, Godfather's, jaws of Indian Cinema.

good- HOT GIRLS & HOT LEAD GUY
bad- Less action than expected and not enought bike action

I watched an older hindi film called Sangam... You know My father says old is gold, I know see what he means. Its not black and white and has Raj Kapoor in it and really who can hate Raj Kapoor. To me it does not matter what year a film is made (okay post 1960 for bollywood and 1940 for Hollywood), if it is made well you don't notice that it is an old film...





Anyways I watched OM SHANTI OM and imo it was the best film of the year, however there were some MASSIVE FAULTS with that film. Huge PLOT HOLES, stuff not making sense, POINTLESS scenes however it is still much better then most of the films. IMO only Guru was any good this year...

Another crappy year in Bollywood ends...

Sholay os a very overrated film. its famous more so for how long it stayed in the theaters than for how good it actually was. thats one of the reasons why people continue to watch it.

So you say its like the Original Star wars.

A film that was the biggest ever film, watched by practically everyone and a film that people generally say is good.

I agree it is not the best hindi film by a long shot.

However it was imo a pretty good fun film, like the original SW.

when i say overrated, i dont mean it was bad. just mean that it was really nothing as special as people say it was. it has more to do with its legacy than anything else.

ofcourse, back then, people probably thought about it very differently

the truth is that no matter what, every year they are only 2-3 good films, even today...


The really great old films are just one of those 2-3 good films from that year...

chak de india and Tare Zameen Par are the only 2 great films this year.

Everything else was just typical comedy, masala and action movies which btw i love.

Most films these year were entertaining but easily forgetful...

When we look at each year we remember 2-3 film and when we go back further in time we remember fewer and fewer great films.

So I like those old great film plus some of the new Film...

U should watch chak de india and taare zameen par. Both are great films.

U should look out for JOKER a futuristic superhero movie coming out in 2009 and LOVE STORY 2050 coming out this year that is a futuristic love story movie in which Weta provided the visual effects!

actually the new Emperor film with Hitrick and Ash looks good.
