you might have to look towards more ethnic stores.
michael, you probably will be in the best position to acquire indian films ... but depending on how far you are from certain places. many places in england, if i remember correctly, have indian places from where you can rent out stuff. then again, i bleieve you're scottish ... so that might not work out too well

Late? The festival doesn't start for two weeks. You're perfectly on time, and its nice to see both of you here. Moviedude, don't worry. It can be one movie in two weeks even, or drop by and discuss movies you've already seen in the thread if you don't get the chance to see one, etc.

Why thank you Dolce!

Zingy, that's why we're getting lists up as soon as possible. To allow people the time to search them out.
I will link the festival threads to the opening post as well.
edit*** You're welcome Michael.
Also, a second site contacted me today. With NFL7 and Jeff's page, I think that makes four thus far!

that was ages ago.
Australian films represented 1% of the Australian Box office last year.

How curious that I should've read this message tonight, as I just got back from watching Cayo, the latest Puerto Rican production (actually, the first Puerto Rican production in years) and this year's entry for the Academy Awards.
While I realize that it will be impossible for anyone not living here to watch the movie for this online festival, I just thought I would bring attention to it, since it's definitely part of international film and the movie is supposed to make the rounds in a few different festivals this year and the next one.
So whoever has the chance to watch it, please do it, if only to support our industry. The film industry in Puerto Rico is practically dead, but there's a lot of interest right now and if the movie proves to be a success, better ones will be made in the future. Who knows, maybe one of these days I'll be making my own movies in here. I'm actually working on a script right now for a class.
Well, that's that! I cannot offer myself to be a host for Puerto Rico because I couldn't come up with a long list as required, and even if I did it would probably be kind of hard for you guys to find these films. Plus, my time is very limited. But I'd love to join as a festival attendant and try and watch as many of the proposed movies that catch my interest and/or I'm able to find. I'll take a look around now and see what I've missed in the discussion so far.

Sorry I've been so late in starting up France. I've been insanely busy the last two weeks or so, but now I have some free time, so I should get things going shortly.

Anyone who wants to. I was thinking of trying to host China, or a hodgepodge of smaller countries, but my plates pretty full with Italy. I was hoping others who know alot about a country would take a crack at it, but I might have scared off the few people I approached. If you know anyone, please ask them, I would love to have some more countries. BJ has decide to return to help me revamp this thing, so he's going to start mass pm mailings very shortly. He has some other stuff in mind too, so we'll wait and see on that one. PLease tell everyone who might be interested that its not too tough, and that they can co-host or tri-host if they're worried about it.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated too.

I don;t have any particular ideas, really. Unfortunately, even though it's the second go round, it feels like it came on pretty suddenly. I mean...October is just a few days away. Not to say it won't be successful, just feels kinda rushed. :/
I really wish I could help out more, but there's just no place I feel comfortable with hosting. I thought about doing a ''Modern'' fest, including all foreign films I've seen that came out in this decade so far, but I'm afraid that would over lap some of the more dedicated threads...plus, I still don't know how much I could offer. I'll pick a country and over the next year, focus on seeing as much as possible so I can help out next year. I guess I could throw up a thread with some general info, to give people a chance to discuss stuff, even though I might not be able to discuss much myself.
And I'll try to find some people to link over here, but...dunno.

No worries. No thread is strong without participants. We need many more "film goers" than hosts, or the hosts efforts are for nothing. So stay put right where you are, enjoy, and just have fun with the threads that are already up. I'm going to do my best to watch one of each country, in order to get convos started with the hosts. So if you'd like to aim for that, it would be marvelous.
