The story was also very good, and I just love everything about this movie. This was when I first became a Ziyi Zhang fan, she's so beautiful, and talented. I would definitely give this film an A.
Hero is pretty good, but lacks what CTHD had going for it. The fighting sequences are good, but nothing spectacular. The story is very confusing at times, and at the end of the film I really didn't understand it, but it was entertaining, and only reached A status when the beautiful Ziyi Zhang was on screen. I would give this one a B-.
House Of Flying Daggers I have not seen, so I cannot comment on it, but I will see it only because I love these kinds of movies, and my honey Ziyi Zhang. i thought Angelina was your honey? but oh well, you had lots of honey.
Angelina is my first honey for sure, but Ziyi is in the Top 5 somewhere.

1. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - A
One of my favorite films of all time.
2. House of Flying Daggers - A
A beautiful film, Zhang Ziyi gives her absolute best performance here.
3. Hero - A-
I guess I'm in the small minority here on the board but I loved Hero. It's just a stunning film, of course it doesn't have the emotional factor that the CTHD and HoFD did though. I need to pick up the DVD and rewatch it again though.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: B+
Hero: C+
House of Flying Daggers: C+
Having seen all three, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is the clear winner. The others were very dissapointing.

Ehehehehe! That's my order too. But I think I would have given CTHD a little higher. A B/B+. Though in retrospect I like it more and more after seeing these other guys. The older it got the better it was right?
You know what for both Dude and Zingy. I don't know how big fans you are of dramatic martial arts movies, but I would suggest if you haven't to see some of the older ones. I just saw bride with White Hair and actually liked it alot. Some of the inherent campiness of the martial arts characters and scenes actually come across better in more theatrical and over-the-top settings.

Since Chinese is my native tongue, the decision for those three is natural, but in general, I also always watched foreign films in their original languages with English(or occasionally, Chinese) subtitles. It preserves the spirit of the dialogs.
