Very soon. I'm going to contact all the hosts thus far, tonight, to start listing the movies they've seen. I know alot of people use netflix and other such means which require time to order the movies. I want to give members as much time as possible to "order" the movies so that they'll actually have them in hand by the time the festival kicks off on the 1st!
On the plus side everyone, I already received some favorable email responses from other sites about linking and hopefully directing more traffic and film goers to this thread.
If anyone else has big ideas, especially for members already here, please let me know what they are. I want this to top last year's event, and I'm still looking for 100 film goers, and hosts to cover anything from Brazil, to Senegal, to Norway. If you know anyone who has knowledge of another country's films, please draw there attention to this thread. Or if you know anyone who might be interested in learning more and being a film goer. The host threads do little if they're not getting visited by disproportionately large amount of film goers for that country.

You can watch only one in the entire two weeks if that's all you have time for. The hosts will be listing all the movies they have seen from a country, that way, if you watch one on the list, you're gauranteed someone has seen it and can talk about it. However, you do not have to watch one on the list. You can watch anyone you want and discuss it with the host, how you feel it does or doesn't fit previously stated opinions about the country, or just comment on it and recommend it to others who may have interest in that country/region/language/genre. You had expressed interest in the SPaghetti movies? FILMO will be hosting the Spaghetti Western section in conjuntion with the Italian Film Festival. He is going to try to prepare some reviews and comments ahead of time to get people thinking about certain genre issues before they watch the movies, etc.
Also, like PE#1 mentioned. If you can't get your hands on a film during that time, but want to discuss ones you've already seen from a country, we'd love to hear from you, and maybe someone else will be able to watch a specific movie to keep up discussions put forth.
Anyone familiar with other film industries, or with ideas about box office, can add them to that country of film as well.
We're basically looking for as many people to pitch in in any way they would like to participate.
Zingy, thanks for joining, you're on the list now. Feel free to let everyone else know about it too.

You know, I was just talking to neostorm about that. I'm having trouble finding someone to host either of those two countries, but I'm still working at it. If you like PE, host an Asian Animation Festival thread. That's what Lecter and Rogue are doing for Horror. You're allowed to pick a genre too. Anything you like, just let me know.

Wow. Bread and Tulips is only hitting you guys now? I saw that two years ago. It's a cute movie and in line with the sentimentalists (My write up will be coming up for those shortly) actually. Its a pretty modern trend, I think, since the late 80's, that began with Mediterrano.

update:
jb007 and i have been in discussion and are currently ifnding a film that will be readily available for people to rent or buy. furthermore, we're trying to look towards an older movie that may have impacted the subcontinental cinema in some way. we've thought of a few but i think it would help if people here can inform us of what means they might have for getting hold of a movie. Thank you

I use Blockbuster - please remember that not all of us can access netflix on account of it being contained to America only; but Blockbuster Online is available in most other countries.

bABA. is Apu trilogy going ot be in it? I've decided I hear so much about it, I'm going to try and watch it. Heh.
If you're sticking to Blockbuster Michael, you've just wittled down your Indian flicks to Lagaan. but since you're UK, maybe the Blockbusters there have more?
Mary, you're added, thanks for joining.

I want to host Australian films. Just because Australians don't see Australian films, doesn't mean their bad.
