Deepwater Horizon COULD sneak in but even already the poster campaign is making it look like a potential blockbuster, and not an Oscar film. Re: Contenders 2016 With the early reviews it's getting, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Kubo and the Two Strings is nominated for Best Animated Feature. This makes me very happy as I've been anticipating this movie since the teaser on The Force Awakens.

Re: Contenders 2016 It's crazy that FOX didn't vet Parker before the deal closed. Even if this wasn't a highly publicized rape trial that one could quickly locate on Google, there's no way it would take someone more than 10 minutes to find the information in court records.
You'd think they'd constantly be on the lookout for another Victor Salva, etc.

Sure, but his co-writer was not and Parker's acquittal seems to stem more from having had prior relations with the woman rather than his outright "innocence". It's not black and white. There's also the stalking/intimidation accusations and the woman's suicide attempts to deal with. At the very least, they could have used this information in negotiations. 17.5m would not be happening. Not even close. _________________
