I hope enough AMPAS members saw Sideways to put both films to bed.

[-o< I think Sideways received the final punch when Giamatti was snubbed in favor of Eastwood.

The last film to win Best Picture with the fewest overall nominations of the five nominees was oddly enough, another comedy. Annie Hall had 5 nominations (tied with Goodbye Girl) in 1977. Annie Hall won 4.
