EBERT'S WORST FILMS OF 2004

1. (tie) "Troy"

4. "Dogville"
5. "New York Minute"
6. "The Grudge"

8. "Resident Evil: Apocalypse"
9. "The Whole Ten Yards"
10. "The Village"

Nice Ebert, some cool picks in the top 10 - mainly Bill and Spidey.

- On Troy, I have to say that picking Troy as the #1 seems wrong to me. I didn't see Alexander but most people hated it - too long, too gay, too muddled, etc. Most people had a hate for it.

- On Troy, I think that most people had good things to say about it - Eric Bana, O'Toole, Pitt, the fight etc. Maybe not a perfect picture but I have to go back and read his review as why he is picking it as the #1 Worst film.

I only have two HUGE probelms with Ebert this year.

Dogville was a masterpiece of modern ciname, #3 on my list, yet #4 WORST on his list.

and the ommission of Before Sunset in his top 25! The #2 (and extremely close to #1) movie of the year on my list.

Interesting that Troy and Alexander are his worst movies of the year. Alexander was truly dissapointing, but I completely disagree with him on Troy. Also, he has a few of my favorites in his top 10 worst, but that's really no surprise to me. I'm very happy to see Spider-Man 2, Hotel Rwanda, and Kill Bill Vol. 2 on his top 10 best of the year.

Nice one, punk.

Why don't you print the whole quote or show it correctly. I said I didn't see it but 3 people told him that they were turned off by that part of the story-line.

Listen man, I haven't used a forum in months, but he used a specific part of your quote to prove his point. Some people value brevity. There's no reason to be so nasty, and yes, I agree, it is a pretty bad reason to list for why Alexander might have been bad. I'll say it's a mess as quickly as anyone, but saying it's bad because it's "too gay" is like saying Flight of the Phoenix sucked because "not enough people were white".[/b]

Dogville is in my top ten, but I'm not really surprised it is winding up on people's worst-of lists. Ebert doesn't usually waste his time with movies like Torque, he goes for the grand stuff that falls flat. If you took Dogville in a certain context, I could easily see it ending up on a worst of list.

Well... yeah but... I agree with Ebert there :D

Only want to point out again, that I didn't see the movie but 3 people told me that they were turned off by the this sexualty part of the movie. They told me it was overdone, not really not needed and a turn off.

I only pointed it out, let the people who saw the movie decide. But there had to be lots of reasons that it got 14 % on RT.
