Quote:
Pearl Harbor is a 2001 American action drama war film directed by Michael Bay and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Randall Wallace, who wrote the screenplay. It features a large ensemble cast, including Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Alec Baldwin, Jon Voight, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Dan Aykroyd, Colm Feore, Mako, Tom Sizemore, Jaime King and Jennifer Garner.

Pearl Harbor is a dramatic reimagining of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent Doolittle Raid. Some of its scenes were among the last to be filmed in Technicolor. Despite being panned by critics, Pearl Harbor earned $449,220,945 at the world wide box office.

It's not the best movie. Actually, it's no where close. But I'm one of the few who didn't hate it, either.

Lame. The stitled, boring love triangle is thankfully interrupted for about 45 minutes by the Pearl Harbor bombings, which are magnificently filmed.

Also, this movie wastes a strong performance from Kate Beckinsale.

Argurably the worst movie ever. Just another wanna be Titanic - a "tragic" love story that will soon lead to a disaster. Man, I could name so many flaws that I could write an essay.

this movie is rah-rah bullshit patriotism wrapped up in a lukewark love story, dipped in Ben Affleck's ass juice and then shoved in the faces of WWII veterans...but the attack itself is really good so it gets a:

I actually love this movie. It's a very well-told and entertaining war epic that had me intrigued and interested all the way through. The battle sequence is perfectly realized and spectacularly done.

Pearl Harbor is much like Troy for me. I expected something great, got something not so good but got to love it during repeat viewings. Highly entertaining movie. Sometimes a bit slow but the Attack is AWESOME. B+

Its crap. Sorry. Cheap dialog etc..etc....Its a Affront for all people who died in WW2. When you make cheap love comedy dont use serious stuff like War etc.

1.5/10 (The one point it gets for some good visual. At least cinematography department worked a bit)

A lot of the criticisms here are true. But it still works well as a popcorn flick and is one of the most visually impressive summer movies of the last decade not just in FX and the great acton set pieces but also with just a generally good quality of cinematography throughout.

I'd put it in the same category as guilty pleasures like Con Air and Armageddon though maybe half a notch down from them. Simplistic, shallow? Sure but there's a place for sheer spectacle in the movies.

It's not the best movie out there, sure, but it's received a lot of undeserved negativity. It's a great summer popcorn flick like many have said nad the technicals are amazing.

Visually stunning. The Pearl Harbor attack is one of the top 5 FX sequences ever.

The story is shite but really, it doesn't matter.

Another movie that was underrated by the reviews - certainly no masterpiece of moviemaking - but the romance story held up surprisingly well, and the history part... well, all history is written by the victors, as they say - so I'm sure it is significantly different from the "true" story (e.g.: I'm pretty sure the WWII American fighter planes didn't have F-18 manoeuverability! -- and of course they didn't get into the Yanks having foreknowledge of the whole thing and then letting it happen to rally public support to join the war, probably because they were going to need to pull out that same old strategy a couple of months after the movie was released...).

I think if taken as a big, old-fashioned, war-porn fantasy movie, it really is quite good.

4 out of 5.

Hahaha, that was exactly what I thought as well when I read the review.

Not a bad movie. Cheesier than Provolone, but entertaining nonetheless. B

I'm one of the few that really loved this movie as well. Cheesy, bit of a weak screenplay, but the love story is enjoyable and the action is amazing.

The best thing that came out of Pearl Harbor was the song in Team America.
