By long time you mean like 2.5 months cause nothing in this movie had any more reaction of any of the crowd pleasing moments in BP.

My theater did not react much to BP.

People went bananas when Luke Skywalker appeared out of the tunnel in TLJ.
People went bananas when Batman went ham in the warehouse in BVS (basic relief that part of the movie was worth seeing)
People went bananas when the lightsaber passes Kylo and goes into Rey's han in TFA.
People went bananas when Han Solo appeared in TFA.
People went bananas when the raptor saved the day in JW.
People went nuts when Batman appeared in TDKR.
People went nuts when Hulk smashed the flying turtle in TA.
People went nuts when red heads mom said "get away you bitch" in Harry Potter

Maybe it was the crowd but Thor's arrival was akin to a football game. IDK if I have seen an audience react to that since the Joker's magic trick in TDK in all honesty. Both times I was unable to hear the movie at all for a few seconds.

The ending, in my opinion, has a considerable emotional impact despite the fact we know in our marrow Disney and Marvel are not going to let Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, etc. stay dead. It is just well-played and striking, particularly Peter Parker's existential dismay and the final shot of Thanos' wearily satisfied face.

Similar to how the Batman-Bane fight in The Dark Knight Rises is intense despite the fact we know the film is not going to end with Bane destroying Gotham while Batman does physical therapy in a convalescence home. This type of playing along with oh-no! moments is part of franchise cinema as long as the movie in question earns it, and I feel Infinity War does. An example of a movie not earning our willingness to play along would be, say, Superman being "dead" in Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Thor’s entrance was such a great moment from a crowd POV

I never lie. My preview JW audience was great. Claps when they open the doors to show the operating park and and claps when the Raptor arrived.

Can we establish the difference between "Bananas" and "nuts" in terms to Excel babble?

To Excel's point, it has been a while since in two screenings a good full audience went apeshit (which includes both bananas and nuts ironically)

I'm not sure one happened in IW though. But I will say the initial interactions got a lot of gasps. But that is so hard to tell, you need to be in the right theater with the right crowd. The Hateful Eight had those moments for instance. TLJ had some, but nowhere on the grounds of TFA. And come on batman appearing in a batman film?

Saw it again for the 2nd time. What an audience reaction experience IW is.
Makes me wonder how many people are seeing IW without having seen any other MCU movie.

The people who are down on the ending and even mad - those can't be comic fans otherwise they would know sequels are coming.
So are the ones unhappy or confused at the ending general moviegoers? Makes me wonder...
I want to take some of my family but I'm worried they wouldnt know what is going on.

Good comparison. I too felt it earned it, whilst other franchises like DCU have not.

I'm still amazed how WB/DC screwed up so badly.

Seriously, though: Thor says at one point half of the Asgard refugees are dead, but it seems more as if everyone is dead. The ship blew up after what seemed to be quite the thorough massacre. Not sure how, say, Valkyrie and Korg are alive...

Someone said Tessa Thompson couldn't fit it into her schedule, which would be the lamest way a character goes out, but I don't see how anyone survived that. The entire ship is there and then you see it get blown up.

Plus, she is hardly the type of character to bail.

Thor's Wakanda entry was definitely one of the big moments of the movie. I saw three times and each time it got a HUGE crowd reaction, the third time it even got a VERY RARE claps (and we see that ONLY at the end of the movie here).

Thanos is reallly into killing half of any (and eventually all) people though. So, if there is a Thor 4, they’ll just be like “Oh Valkyrie and Korg used an escape pod.”

Thanos saved half the people (includes Valk & Korg). Thor said it himself. It’s not a difficult question.
Those 2 will be back in Thor 4 and Valkyrie again in Solo all females teamup movie

Also probably Loki and Gamora.

But everyone else? Nah. Come on, we know they're coming back. Duh.

Good analysis of the film here: http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2018/04 ... s-inbound/

I sort of get what Magnus is saying, though it's not enough to make me hate the MCU. The MCU is sort of paying the price for being so light and fun for so long without any real stakes. Now that they try to give it more stakes, its still not believable.

The deaths at the end meant nothing to me, because we all know they're not real. Now if maybe they had just done one or two, perhaps. But come on, they're not going to kill off their franchises.
