Quote:
Captain America: Civil War is a 2016 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Captain America, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and the thirteenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and features an ensemble cast that includes Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt and Daniel Brühl. In Captain America: Civil War, an act regulating superhuman activity fractures the Avengers into opposing factions, one led by Steve Rogers and another by Tony Stark.

Development of Captain America: Civil War started in late 2013 when Markus and McFeely began writing the screenplay, which borrows concepts from the 2006 comic book storyline Civil War. The Russo brothers were brought back to direct in early 2014 after positive reactions to test screenings of The Winter Soldier. The film's title was revealed in October 2014 and Downey was added to the cast, with additional cast members joining the film in the following months. The film began principal photography in April 2015 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia and the Metro Atlanta area, before concluding in Germany in August 2015.

Captain America: Civil War held its world premiere in Los Angeles on April 12, 2016 and is scheduled to be released in North America on May 6, 2016, in 3D and IMAX 3D.

So... need to let it sink in but I still think Winter Soldier is the best film in the MCU.

The film is pretty solid though. Don't think the story flowed as good as it could but character motivations were understandable. Will probably say a few more things after I eat. Don't think it's a knockout but it's pretty enjoyable.

The airport fight was dope.

Pretty fucking phenomenal. It might be the best MCU film yet. For the most part, they give every character their moments to shine. Spider-Man and Black Panther steal the scenes they are in, but Steve Rodgers and Tony Stark are the heart of the movie, just like they've been the heart of the entire MCU. They carry the third act which would totally sag after following the airport scene if they didn't sell the emotional drama so well.

I'm probably too jazzed up to see some of the negatives here, but my biggest issue at the moment is the action in the first half just isn't filmed very well. There's a lot of editing choices that are just unfortunate and take away from are otherwise greatly choreographed and performed fight scenes. I also have to laugh at just how similar the villain's plan is to Lex in BvS; he is at least more motivated than the latter, but some of his machinations are... vague.

Man I really want to see it again lol. Cannot get over how much cool shit is in this movie; if you've only seen the two trailers, you've only seen about 1% of the wow moments the Russos have to offer.

The use of Spider-Man was well done although it doesn't feel organic. Tony getting the help of some amateur kid is silly but I'll look past it 'cause it was pretty darn cool to see Spider-Man with these characters.

This felt like an Avengers film to me. Everyone gets a moment to do their thing.

Oh, and I'm wondering if the actual release will have a post credit scene 'cause these prints didn't, just a mid credits one w/ Cap/Bucky/Black Panther.

To be fair, though, Spidey was clearly more powerful than most of the people in this movie, with the exception of Vision and Wanda. So it made sense that he'd want to recruit him.

Spoiler: show
One of my favorite Spidey scenes is how casually he stops Bucky's metal punch and then says "A metal arm? That is so cool!" The quip is classic Spider-Man and the moment establishes that he's a tier above most people there, and he's really only undone by his inexperience and adoration for these larger-than-life superheroes.

That was so disappointing for the crowd I saw it with haha. I read the Russos filmed 2 credit scenes, so I assume we'll see another one for the proper release.

Nope, worked a little too late and called the theater to see how the wait was and figured I didn't want to sit in the first few rows. Done that before, not worth it.

I'm gonna be a "normy" now :(

A-

Probably below Winter Soldier and second best mcu film so far.

There are only two things that got me Thinking.

The airport scene is basically a trailer for the new spidey and based on that.... THE FILM WILL BE HUGE. Tom Holland knocks it out of the park
And Wanda could have ended the fight before it even begins, she's just so so so much more powerful than anyone else on the film. Taling Vision down the way she did was lol, she didn't even break a sweat. Then at the airport scene she could have finished team Iron Man in a heartbeat.

She's way too overpowered.

And fuck will Hawkeye ever not be Black Widow's bitch? I mean he didn't get owned badly because..... Wait for it.... Wanda!

I think its the best one so far.

Really liked the movie. Best of the ensemble movies for sure. Action was absolutely spectacular except the use of shaky camera at times. the best scene was the one in the airfield but the chase where BP appears for the 1st time was cool. BP was a good addition though not convinced he can carry a movie on his own. Most characters have limited screen time.

Spider-man definitely has made a strong comeback. His scenes brought the house down for sure. Plus it deifnitely does not anything like last 2 iterations. With RDJ appearing in the next one its going to take SM back to top.

Overall I liked WS more than this but this was good on its own.

For now I would rate A-.

My ranking of MCU would be

1) IM1
2) CA:WS
3) GOTG
4) CW
5) CA:FA
6) Ant-Man
7) Avengers
8) IM3 ( does not hold as well as the 1st view)
9) Thor
10) TIH
11) AOU
12) Thor 2
13) IM2

Edit: Marisa Tomei was fantastic as well. Cant wait to see her in a bigger role.

YEah Marisa Tomei slayed.

Also this has to be the weakest villain in all of the MCU, I know he wasn't the point of the movei but daaaamn, they should have tried harder or not have a villain at all

He was actually one of their better villains and the only sympathetic one alongside Fisk.
