Re: World War Z
Wow, very interesting to hear about the ending. I liked the stuff in the research lab so good for them for changing it.
I thought the trailers were kinda terrible but the film is entertaining. Brad Pitt's a good lead and the action for the most part works. The PG-13 rating is pretty stupid but besides the arm scene it didn't bother me that much.

Well-cast, well-acted, and well-shot, but it leaves absolutely no impression whatsoever.

Re: World War Z
I know this goes against the ethos of the summer movie season, but the first act of this should be longer. More time with the family. More subtle hints of the coming danger. I will compare it again to Spielberg's War of the Worlds, which I believe does a beautiful job establishing domestic tensions while also creating a subtle, increasing atmosphere of stormy unease.

If it's a free showing why not just go to it. However, I didn't see much in 3D personally.

Re: World War Z
I didn't find the climax underwhelming, because the movie's action sequence had a loud-soft dynamic of sorts, alternating to a huge set piece in Philly to a more eerie and small-scale rooftop race. So the Jerusalem escape followed by the scenes in the lab hallways made sense, I thought.
The virologist's death scene early on was pretty lame, though.

Re: World War Z
This was one of those movies that pretty much exactly matched my expectations. It was really entertaining, the action was fantastic and I wasn't bored for a second. But.. this could have been much more epic. I didn't liked Pitt's speech at the end, otherwise there's not much that bothered me. All around solid movie.

Re: World War Z
I liked it. It could've used a couple of more minutes with the family, and it could've used a better explanation as to what exactly the antidote wound up being. We go from Brad Pitt injecting himself with a terminal disease of some kind, but just managed to get out of him before it took full effect (if I remember correctly). So they mixed a terminal disease with...(blank)...it took them (blank) amount of time, and cured everyone from being noticed by zombies? Either I missed or hopefully it'll be explained in more detail in the sequel (who the fuck saw that coming?). Can't wait for the Unrated Blu-ray. Was anyone else bothered by Pitt's bandage in the third act and how it was somehow black instead of red? I understand why it would be black in the trailer, but even for a PG-13 movie that CGI change seems kind of stupid and unnecessary. (B)

Re: World War Z
I thought I would hate this after I've seen in the preview in front of basically everything I saw the last two months but I enjoyed it. A good mix of action and story to satisfy both ends. I'm glad though that the film accomplished what it needed to do without having to go and put in flashbacks to build up Gerry and other characters' background stories.

Re: World War Z
World War Z so far exceeded my expectations, that it lapped them and kicked them in the butt on the way by!
A truly thrilling pandemic movie with a solid story that keeps the tension ratcheted up all the way through. Brad Pitt earns his salary and points as always - - he's an old school movie star in the best possible way. And unusually, for a modern day blockbuster, the action serves the story - - isn't that crazy!?!
My favorite movie of the summer so far!

Re: World War Z
I thought this was pretty awesome. If the rest of the film was as intense as the first 20 minutes, I think my heart would have imploded. The rest of the film is effective though as it really just moves from set piece to set piece, but each is a lot of fun. I hope there is an alternate version on DVD, while I don't necessarily think I would have liked that version better (The hallway scenes were great, as was the camouflage idea) I think it would have been a nice middle of the film to make it even more epic. In fact I don't think we would even have to lose the airplane scene (could have just crashed in Russia instead)
Could have been gorier, and grander in scope, but what's there is great entertainment. A- I can't believe Pitt is pushing 50, he still feels late 30s to me. Definitely this generation's Harrison Ford of good genes.

Yeah this, I cannot imagine how good looking would his childs be with Jennifer Aniston who also keeps getting hotter by the year, instead of the ones with that skank Jolie. #neverforget

Nah, he just has mediocre taste. I mean not that there is much wrong with Aniston looks-wise, but Jolie is much better.

Jolie is superior in every conceivable way: as an actress, as a sex symbol, as a celebrity.
