 Clash of the Titans (2010)
Clash of the Titans Quote: Clash of the Titans is a 2010 fantasy film which is a remake of the 1981 film of the same name, itself loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus. Directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Sam Worthington, the film was originally set for standard release on March 26, 2010. It was later announced that the film would be converted to 3-D and released on April 2, 2010.

It's not quite the level of epic-ness and awesomeness like 300, but it's up there.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
I saw it in 2D because apparently the 3D version is wack, btw.
Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes (who I didn't even know was in the movie 'till I saw it) were both solid. Ralph Fiennes was actually a really good Hades. Sam Worthington was about as good as in any other movie he's in. Gemma Arterton's pretty hot.
All the big action scenes, like against the gigantic scorpions, Medusa and the Kraken (sp?) were pretty sweeet. And it's pretty entertaining throughout.
The biggest flaw, really, is that it tries to be more epic than it actually is. You're never just like "whoa."
But it's fun.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
Commits the great sin of being neither good nor bad. Instead, it's relentlessly boring throughout. Some nice special effects (I saw this in 2D) but it falls flat overall. C

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
Clash of the Titans is an overdone and poor epic from start to finish. The plot is very similar if not exactly the same as other films of its like where one person (in this case Perseus) has to be one to defeat the bad guy (in this case the Kraken/Hades) and experiences some troubles along the way including the always overused prophecy outlook. The effects were very poor as well. A majority of the scenes were obvious in that they were done in front of a green screen. If effects were this bad in 2D, there is no question that the conversion to 3D was utter shit. The film's pacing was also for the film and even if the film was only meant to entertain, it did not entertain. Sam Worthington and the first ten minutes of the film (before the statue of Zeus') fall were probably the only decent parts of the film but that still can't save this wasted film. 1/2*

I don't think the director was really going for epic here. It wan intentionally campy in many parts.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
The movie was decent but the 3-D seems non existent and lazy towards the second half of the movie. Its as though you only pay for the 3-D effects for 1/20th of the movie.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
The Desmond Davis-directed '80s camp classic (poor, poor Laurence Olivier) becomes a 2010 action epic. The result: a bombastic, low-brow, but not unpleasant parade of swords, sandals, and computer-generated creatures.
Sam Worthington (Avatar) is Perseus, half-god/half-man, one-hundred-percent brooding hero! After his adopted father, mother, and sister are murdered by Hades (Ralph Fiennes), god of the underworld, Perseus vows revenge and is thrust into a conflict between ambitious men ("Gods? Who needs them?") and furious, jealous gods, including Zeus (Liam Neeson), his father.
Clash of the Titans will not be a shining résumé highlight for most of its ensemble cast. Worthington seems bored going through the "I don't give a damn! Not my war! I'm a man! I will do this as a man! It's raining men! ...oh, fine, which way is the battle?" motions, though he remains an attractive, intense presence in action sequences. A bearded, glowing-armor-clad Neeson (in the same role as poor, poor Laurence Olivier) seems embarrassed in every frame, not least of which when he bellows instant-classic Internet meme: "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!" Fiennes is better, enjoying every filthy, serpentine moment as Hades. By the way, Clash of the Titans is not as good as the last Fiennes/Neeson vehicle: Schindler's List. Just saying.
Replacing Desmond Davis behind the camera is French director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk). He directed one of my favorite recent action films, the disturbing, yet humane and well-crafted Unleashed with Jet Li and Morgan Freeman. His direction here is not as inspired or stylish, though he does handle most of the action well (the cave hunt for Medusa in particular). My only complaint: Leterrier, a few times, lapses into whip-pan, rapid-fire, headache-inducing Michael Bay territory in his shooting of Perseus and co.'s exploits.
It's camp. The action is fun. The acting is poor (spare Fiennes, who knows the material is bad, so he ends up good). It's bad for you, yet worthwhile in a Saturday-morning, perverse way. It's a movie where one of the most memorable, thought-through moments involves paying homage to a mechanical owl called Bubo, so...there.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
Oh, and I hated Jason Flemyng's character. The sub-villain who always shows up at the worst time, out of the blue. And I hated the "tender" moment at his death, which seemed completely out-of-character (the dude was clearly an a-hole even before he became a demon).

But it's fun. I pretty much totally agree with this review. I had a lot of fun watching the 2D version. I really liked Gemma Arterton, and Fiennes was great as Hades (he sounded just like Voldemort LOL). Voldemort, Hades, what's next Fiennes? B+

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
Easy to enjoy, easy to see how it has been very heavily tweaked in post-production. Having Mount Olympus being boiled down to Zeus and Hades was a big mistake. It would have been great to see Zeus be the villian as he was originally intended. Like others have said, the action scenes and especially the score are quite fun. But the last scene makes absolutely no sense: http://chud.com/articles/articles/23299 ... Page1.html

5/10 -> C
Lazy and unnecessary update. Half of the stuff here is pretty laughable, and the action scenes have nothing new to them. I didn't like it. I didn't hate it.

I loved the scene where Mads Mikkelsen as Draco is turned to stone by Medusa - - in his last moment alive his lips curl up into the smile he promised Perseus earlier in the film - - hilarious and dead cool at the same time. That moment was worth the price of admission for me, and overall I quite enjoyed the breezy tone of this 'remake'. 4 out of 5.

Sam Worthington is painful to watch. Without him, the film would have done better. 3/10.

Totally disposable, but not nearly as bad as some people had indicated. No doubt it helped that this wasn't in 3D.

Re: Clash of the Titans (2010)
I had to laugh that they built a huge portion of their marketing campaign around the "KRACKEN OMGZ"... Only for the thing to die about two minutes after it finally shows up. And in a really, really lame way. But given how bad the rest of the movie was, it didn't come as much of a surprise. A very generous D+
