Quote:
Mission: Impossible II (also known as M:i-2) is a 2000 action film directed by John Woo, and starring Tom Cruise, who also served as the film's producer. It is a sequel to Brian De Palma's 1996 film Mission: Impossible with Cruise reprising his role as agent Ethan Hunt of the IMF, a top-secret espionage and clandestine operation agency.

It's one of my all time favorite action movies. John Woo is an action genius.

A+

Excellent action movie. Not even close to the more complex and true to the TV show, original movie.

M:I-2 - A+

I love this movie. John Woo is an action genius! But also, Tom Cruise is an action star, he has such a way of making you feel cool, because he is so cool himself. I dont think there is a role that Tom cant play.

A+

So sue me over that! I am with Zing and Algren on this one. While I know that this is by far not one of the "best" movies ever made, it is definitely one of my personal all-time favorites. Tom Cruise is great as an action star, John Woo is probably the best action director out there right now and I loved the whole style of the movie.

Yech. What a freakshow movie. It ripped off sooo many movies that were sooo much better.

What a waste.

What a bad movie. They overused the whole face mask thing, so it got really annoying and the action scenes were surprisingly boring for a John Woo picture. I was surprised that nearly all action sequences have been stolen from other movies. (D)

Put me in the love camp - unlike the first one, this one was made in the true spirit of the TV show!

The first film is vastly superior.

Kicking Impossible is more like it.

At what point did Ethan stop mouring all the shit that happened in the first film and take up karate?

After watching both of them again, I'd have to say I prefer the first one. Still, not a bad action movie. I would rate it a B.

The plot of Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious + the slo mo action of The Matrix + the entire face mask gimmick from Face/Off= Mission Impossible 2

For a film that's so unorginal, it's also suprisingly fun and entertaining, however Cruise's picture perfect performance carries the film. Overall, I can think of much worse things to watch on a lazy afternoon. A-

I found this much better than the first (maybe because the first confused me so much 8-[ ). It had great action and an interesting story. Plus it had Tom Cruise's cousin in it (Ethan from Lost) who was good in a small role.

Grade: A-

Hmm... quite a few A+s, I see. I'm in the "not as good as number one" camp. I just wasn't as into it as the first, and I watched both back to back for comparison. It's still a fun movie, just not as fun or entertaining as the first. And, there's no Langley scene or train vs. helicopter scene like in the first, although I did enjoy the final fight.

Grade: B

Probably the most disappointing sequel I've ever seen, were talking Rocky V, Batman and Robin.

I walked out when there was 10 minutes left. I've never done that before, and havent sinced seing it its opening Friday

I need to see it again, but I think I have it as good yet unspectacular. It's a lot better than the first, and the action is fun, but it still feels crappy in a lot of places.

there is a lot of stupid shit going on in this movie, and i hate it when woo has to tone down the action and violence for an american mass audience. the plot is convoluted and left me scratching my head, the characters are uninvolving and i wouldnt have cared if they shot tom cruise in the middle of the film. but we can still spot flashes of sheer brilliance, although they are few and far between. anyway, these few moments make this film better than the average hollywood action blockbuster directed by studio-controlled robots. the extreme climbing scene that opens the film is exhilarating, as are some of the action set pieces later in the film. i was disappointed big time when i saw it in theaters because woo is one of my favorite action directors and my expectations were high. i really hated it, but now i think it deserves something like a B-.

You mean that opening that was almost a blatant rip off of Cliffhanger.
