Quote:
Aladdin is a 1992 American animated family film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Aladdin was the 31st animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and was part of the Disney film era known as the Disney Renaissance. The film was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, and is based on the Arab folktale of Aladdin and the magic lamp from One Thousand and One Nights. The voice cast features Scott Weinger, Jonathan Freeman, Robin Williams, Linda Larkin, Frank Welker, Gilbert Gottfried, and Douglas Seale.

Lyricist Howard Ashman first pitched the idea, and the screenplay had to go through three drafts before Disney president Jeffrey Katzenberg greenlighted the production. The animators based their designs on the work of caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, and computers were used for both colouring and creating some animated elements. The musical score was written by Alan Menken and features six songs with lyrics written by both Ashman and Tim Rice, who took over after the former's death.

Aladdin was released on November 25, 1992 to positive reviews, despite some criticism from Arabs who considered the film racist, and was the most successful film of 1992, earning over $217 million in revenue in the United States, and over $504 million worldwide. The film also won many awards, most of them for its soundtrack. Aladdin's success led to many material inspired by the film such as two direct-to-video sequels, The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, an animated television series, toys, video games, spin-offs, and merchandise.

This is, by far, my favorite animated movie. It's imaginative, it's fun, the songs are actually kinda good, and some incredible, unforgettable characters all into one 90 minute long package. Brilliant.

Have yet to watch the special features on the DVD, which I got for Christmas. Wonderful movie, in my top 30. My absolute favorite film growing up. Full of humor, heart, and beauty, the movie is one of the best films of the 90s.

A+

One of my favorites as a child, still is today.
Just a little note, if you don't have the DVD... the transfer is just purely awesome, it was a whole new experience for me with my old grainy VHS copy. :)

Here we see Disney at its very best. Exhilarating, funny, adventurous, creative, well-animated, insanely rewatchable.

I wasn't a big fan of the musical numbers, but other than that, I see no flaws.

Love it. I also had a crush on Aladdin. And though Jafar was kick ass. I wish DIsney would go back to this......

Maybe my second or third favorite animated film. Has some great music, including my favorite Disney song (A Whole New World)

I recently resaw this film as of late, and I must say being older gives a different spin to all films. The laughs in this were pop-culture driven, but unlike Dreamsworks typical pop culture go-getter funny film, this one has a good heart. It doesn't reach too much power, but it does have some impressive scenes and Jafar is indeed a classic villain.

Ditto on this one.

Not my favorite Disney but it is only because of the stiff competition.

Just watched this again for the first time in don't know how many years... I'm surprised just how well it held up, it probably remains one of the best animated films I've seen. Great characters, great songs, great visuals. It's also probably the funniest animated movie I've seen... Genie is just brilliant, Robin Williams should've gotten award consideration for this, really.

Even though I'm a big Pixar supporter, there's just something about 2D and the magic of something like the A Whole New World sequence or You Never Had a Friend Like Me that I don't think can be replaced in CGI, or at least hasn't yet.

Truly one of the best. I don't get why it's reputation seems to be below The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast's. Because it's lighter? Eh.

5/5

B+ here. It's really good but not one of my favorites. I think the best Disney animated movies are The Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland.

Great movie bar the irritating music, guess you can say that for alot of Disney films.
