Re: Love Actually
I don't know, from a objective standpont A/A- and an awesome romcom would be my stance as I posted in this thread, but the more I think about this movie the more I love it soooooo much. It's one of those movies that would evolve into a favorite... I recently put in my top 50, yay. This movie makes me happy as an unabashed romantic.

I originally gave it a 9/10 (A-) and now it's in my top five favorite films ever.

Libs wrote: Yeah, um. I just posted a random thread in the Real Life forum about how much I love the score to this movie, especially the "love" theme they play at the end of the movie. It reminds me of how much I love this movie to pieces. In fact, I think if I had to name 5 movies that I would always have on hand if I needed cheering up, this would be one of them. The score is masterful. I bought the import edition of the soundtrack just because it includes more of the musical score, mainly "PM's Love Theme."

Re: Love Actually
This could be one of my top-ten favorite films. It's just so weird this got bumped and Libs made that thread because I saw it for the first time last night. Rickman is outstanding, as is Nighy. Nighy was the best part of the movie for me, although just about everyone was great.

Re: Love Actually
I agree with several people when they say that it was too much syrup, and too predictible.
But in the end, I didnt really care, I loved the characters way to much.
I also REALLY love the soundtrack, and the movie uses music very well its scenes. I Like the flow of the soundtrack was I believe used in sequence in the movie.
To the person who said the movie was depressing, pretty much every story angle it was uplifting.
If you are thinking depressing because the guy's best friend crushing on his wife, sure that was kind of depressing, but the best friend was able to move on from that. And if you are thinking thompson's/rickmans relationship was kind of depressing, sure there was some pain/hurt there, but they are sticking it out and making it work.
other than that, everyone else was connecting or re-connecting, and was great.
Still one of my favorite movies, and I keep on loving it more and more on repeat viewings. And the Love Actually soundtrack is in my 6 disc changer constantly. Hell I think my avatar over at BOM is still the love actually poster.

Hell I think my avatar over at BOM is still the love actually poster. The soundtrack is amazing. Probably my favorite movie soundtrack ever. Richard Curtis picked all of the songs specifically for every scene, as explained in a documentary on the DVD and in the CD liner notes. It really shows, because the music fits every moment perfectly. And I agree about it not being depressing. I seriously don't see how you could say that. I mean, the moment with Emma Thompson and her Christmas present always makes me tear up, but the storyline was resolved in a satisfying and realistic way. Oh how I love Love Actually

Re: Love Actually
Sometimes I wish movies were like people and they would up and die. Like this one.
I agree with the person who found this depressing. It really is, particularly when it thinks its being cute and/or uplifting.
And, seriously...this fucking thing could kill diabetics. I'd better tell grandma to just keep on surfin' when she hits this slop on one of its nine million cable airings in the next month.

Well, I broke down and saw this today. I think it can be summed up nicely thus:
Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way...

if I spent any time thinking about it, I'd probably realize how bad it is... but I instead choose to just love it, which is far more enjoyable.
