I still enjoyed it, but the banter didn't resonate with me as much, and the multipe twist ending was so screwball comedy I couldn't really get into it. A lineup of a great cast, plus my fave David Niven. I think I will try to rewatch it again, as I've only seen it once and maybe missed alot. I'll give you that point. The last 10 minutes are shaky. But there's so much to love: Maggie Smith and David Niven as the Nick and Nora Charles-esque couple, Peter Sellers' Charlie Chan takeoff, Peter Falk doing a killer Bogart. I especially love the dialogue given to Falk; it's all so overly-melodramatic and goofy. Do yourself a favor: try it again. And, as Libs pointed out, a rare screen role for Truman Capote, only adding to the film's value. I now return this thread to Clue.
I watched Murder by Death yesterday.
I'm going to go with dolce on this one. Some of it... quite funny. But it was more screwball and less zany. And I love the zaniness of Clue!

"He had threatened to kill me in public"
"Why would he want to kill you in public?"
"I think she means he threatened, in public, to kill her." (Eye roll)
"Oh"
There is a lot of great lines in this movie
YVette is screaming in the other room.
"It must be the murderer"
"Why would he scream?"

I just can't get over how quotably great this movie is. I need to watch it again...and again...

"Who would want to kill the cook?"
"Dinner wasnt that bad"
"Mr Body Dead? Again."
"What are you afraid of, a fate worst than death?"
"No just death, isnt that enough"
I think my alltime favorite is a tie to when the guy is at the door during the reenactment, and he goes "Good evening, have you ever given any thought to the kingdom of heaven" There all like what the hell.
"Armagedon is almost upon us"
"I got news for you its already here"
That and when Wadsworth reanacts, Plum saying maybe he was poisoned, then Screams like Peacock, and then he slaps her so hard in the face pretending to be Mr. Green. I always die when I see that. Tim did great impressions of Loyd and McKean in that scene.

I blindly purchased this film simply based on the comments in this thread. Hopefully I like it just as much as you do folks.

I don't know if you'll love it (though I hope you will), but it might help if you're a fan of the game. I loved the game as a kid, and as inconsequential as it is, something about its novelty really drew me to the movie.
I don't know, though. Probably won't make a difference.

Never played it, heh.

Re: Clue
This movie is absolutely hysterical, seriously. I can watch it any number of ties and howl like a fool each time.

Re: Clue
Sharp as a tack and hilarious to boot. Tim Curry's manic performance (I love his sped-up re-enactment of the entire film) is probably the best part. That or Colleen Camp's boobs. The ending(s) doesn't make a lick of sense, but who cares? It's a lot of fun.
