May I first say that you do indeed rock, bABA -- but in this particular case, you yourself are also a liar! It was I, Bradley J. Witherberry III, who caught this dastardly prevarication. Go ahead, review the tape, and get back to me with suitable apologetic grovelling. Thanx in advance...

How about you set up the bait and I reconfirmed our suspicions.

Great review Loyal. You pretty much covered everything.

I was also shocked at how much I liked it. I'm a Rocky loonie, no doubt, but this one just caught me off guard. I loved the speech he gives to his son outseif of his restauarant.

Too bad it's gonna bomb at the box office based on it's 1st day opening of a paltry 6.2 Million and a 40% drop the next.. Back in the 80's, this would tripled that number with no problem..

The speech he gives to his son makes me want to be a better person. I feel like I've been lazy for so long...waiting for an opportunity to fall in my lap...WOW...HOLY SHIT...YOU SEE WHAT ROCKY DOES TO YOU?

I'll be right back...I have to go tell my wife i love her, then I'm going to go bench press heavy rocks and then run up a mountain...c ya in a few hours.

I was oddly depressed by it. I think it's partly because Stallone looked so damn old. Kinda felt like the end of an era. Really hammered home just how much more I enjoyed life back when Stallone was in his prime and I was a 5 year old kid idolising his every move.

Paltry 6.2 and only doing 6% worst then Kong last year drop wise.

Bwahahahaha, BKB is so angry he got owned.

How does it feel that Rocky Balboa had a much better reception than The Hulk?

To be fair, I dont think BKB is saying so much that Rocky is bombing but that it isnt doing the fraction of stellar numbers its doing when compared to the previous Rocky movies. In a way at least the Batman and James Bond movies have some consistency in numbers. Its not really so much BKB is dissing the movie when in fact it got a B for him and he even said its a good welcoming for the Rocky movies. He as much as anyone of us wish that it would have done much bigger numbers like how he felt CW should do

I see what your saying, but at the same time, he was still calling it a bomb based on its pathetic drop on Thursday which it wasn't and it passed expectations completely on Wed. I would say based on Fridays number, the hasbeen that Stallone has become will be a bonafide pedigree director and star once again, He may get to now direct his Edgar Allen Poe film and will be able to a get some more acting gigs. Calling it a disappointment even on 80s standards is just weak argument.

I thought it was a good film with a great performance by Stallone, For me it was as good as part 2 but not on the levelk of rocky 1 or even as entertaining as rocky III and IV.Stallone carries this film and it was a good ending to the series, the thing that left me underwelmed was the training montage and the fight, but its still 100x better than rocky V.

The hell it's not.. The fact that it came in at #3 for Friday and will probably come in at #3 for the weekend really is disappointing no matter how you want to spin it.. ROCKY'S gonna get owned by Ben Stiller..

No.. No, I think it was all of you that got owned since ROCKY can't even hold onto #1 for the weekend and is being beaten out by of all people Ben Stiller.. That hurts and you know it..

Weakest counter arguement ever. You're slacking lately, BKB. I don't think one person predicted it to be #1 this weekend, so you really have no point. Therefore, you still got owned.

Oh BULLSHI* you little twirp.. You all hyped this to high heaven with the predictions you all gave it on the high end so spare me that weak counter argument as you put it.. ROCKY was good, but for the love of God, got OWNED by Ben Stiller this weekend which never would've happened in the 80's, not by a damn longshot Zing..

Predicting high and predicting it to be #1 are two seperate things, guy. NO ONE predicted it to be #1 this weekend (except maybe Roid, who only considered it a possibility), and it didn't. Now, whether this would have happened in the 80's or not is really not my concern. I couldn't care less. We're not in the 80's. And also, based on some questions earlier in this thread, whether you actually saw Rocky or not is questionable. I haven't seen it yet, so I can't confirm, but you got played within 24 hours of seeing the film, so it's not like you can make an excuse that you forgot.

Welcome to 2006, Grandpa. :hahaha:

If you say so Zing.. Your just masking the fact that I was actually right on this and the movie really didn't open well, thus from a Domestic box office standpoint, coming it at #3 for the weekend for a movie that received really good reviews and that was #1 at one time is hard to overlook..

It was a touching ending, but I still feel they should've had ROCKY win his 1 last fight instead of leaving before the results were announced and making you think on who really won, which seemed more like a copout to me..

That isn't what happened on the print of the movie I saw -- it was clear who won...

http://www.themoviespoiler.com/Spoilers ... alboa.html

Rocky gets out of the ring (music still playing) and heads toward the exit with the chanting "ROCKY!" Mason stays in the ring awaiting the count on the split decision. Rocky heads out near the entrance and in the background you hear ".... and the winner, and still undefeated champion, Mason 'The Line' Dixon." Rocky doesn't stop and shakes hand with the crowd. The screen freezes on Rocky shaking a crowd member's hand.... What more needs to be said about this??? So now what??? Are there 2 prints of this movie with different endings or what?? ROCKY should've won..
