Re: Iron Man 3
Saw it again, really enjoyed it the 2nd time, some more even subtle jokes, and the action scenes are really well done. I also really enjoy the score in this one. Nothing dragged for me. Oh and the end credits is just awesome!
Watching it the 2nd time I'm even more confused. There is not a single bit of dialogue or action he makes in the final bit to suggest he is retiring, and I listened to every single word this time. The only thing I can say about the ending, is that it wraps up everything very nicely and if they were to end the series as a trilogy, it would be a very satisfying end. But the ending with all the cocoon talk and being now a much bigger threat talk shows that he is game to start taking a much larger worldlier role in the future which I'd also be down for.

Re: Iron Man 3
Shane Black created Lethal Weapon, did the story for the 2nd film, and wrote Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero, Long Kiss Goodnight, and wrote and directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

And New Line paid a shitload for the rights to Kast Kiss Goodnight. Speaks well of Blacks rep at the time.

Liked the slight nod to the Christmas Tree/Drug deal scene in Lethal Weapon to Tony running through the Christmas trees while fleeing James Dale.

Re: Iron Man 3
4/10 -> D
I was never a big IM fan. First one was just good, the second one was bad and the third one is slightly worse than the second. It has too much of everything and it becomes even more over the top as it goes on. Villains were never a strong side of IM, but they dropped the ball completely here. The twist is bad and the whole regeneration/heating thing became laughable once Killian breathed fire. I mean WTF?
3D was also unspectacular. If it wasn't for the 2 tickets for the price of 1 I doubt I'd even bother seeing it anyway.

Re: Iron Man 3
I was mostly enjoying it up until the lame Mandarin twist. I lost almost all interest in the film at that point. (C+)

As the twist was just what so many movies do now-a-days, and the villain was good. I myself thought something weird was happening, as I knew the friend was some kind of bad guy, and if that was the real Mandarin, he wouldn't have been hiding for so long.

Re: Iron Man 3
I know that, that's the point I was trying to make to people saying otherwise. The retiring talk is no where in the film, mostly just speculation on a RDJ interview a few months ago

Re: Iron Man 3
Like so many movies these days, Iron Man 3 lacked a propulsive through narrative.
Sure, there were plenty of cool ideas thrown out there, witty banter galore, pleasant action scenes, and even a political theme that was a tad subversive - - but overall, it just went nowhere.
A disappointing...
4 out of 5.

Isn't most things these days in Bradley's world?
Glad he moderately enjoyed Django though. I was honestly a tad surprised.

Using Bradley's grading system, that's like a "D" to normal people. I've been over it many times before, but then Algren always seems to benefit from quite a lot of repetition to in order to begin to grasp at an idea... When I grade a movie with what other people refer to as a "D" for the purposes of the poll above, that translates to a "2 out of 5" on my scale. In the case of Iron Man 3, I rated it "4 out of 5" - - so I clicked the "B" button in this thread's poll. "F" is the equivalent of "1 out of 5" and "A" is the equivalent of "5 out of 5". Everything I rate above "5 out of 5" is perhaps most easily understood by "normal people" as increasing degrees of what they might refer to as "A+".

Rewatching on TV. I enjoy most of this, mainly the time when Stark is stuck in the small town, and the Mandarin stuff.
LOL at how good they made Mandarin... just to finish with another lame villain.

Re: Iron Man 3
I can still enjoy the action in it, especially the finale, but overall the movie doesn't hold up so well in repeat viewings. The twist is stupid and an utter waste of Ben Kingsley's talents, but Guy Pearce's scenery chewing never gets old.

Re: Iron Man 3
It's near the top. Top 5 of the MCU. I was pleasantly surprised by Iron Man 3. It shares company with Guardians and The First Avenger as the better installments in a dire franchise.

Re: Iron Man 3
Love this still. God it's kind of ridiculous when you watch the first two movies how slow it takes him to become Iron Man, and thinking back how awesome it was back then.
I love almost everything about this one.

Re: Iron Man 3
This is the best Iron Man film. It had the best villain, the biggest stakes, and the most emotion. And for once I actually thought a Marvel character had died (she didn't, but it was effective nonetheless).
