Why is Wicked doing so many early screenings but embargo doesn’t drop till Tuesday?

Weird to not allow reviews to build further buzz but its already out of the world. Expecting 3m from Amazon early screenings tomorrow. 6.5m+ from Wednesday early shows which has to be the widest I have tracked yet. Thursday previews is looking like mid teens plus. Weekend sales are also crazy strong. With strong walkups it could surprise us big time.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
If I'm reading your numbers correctly, to pass Barbie's $162M it would need need another $138M more. Seems like if it possibly already may reach $30M+ even before Friday? Seems like it could coast past that at this point?
Given that Universal provided the "einheimer" half of Barbenheimer, it seems they learned a lot from the virality of that campaign that they are using with Wicked. I've literally seen Wicked product placehment everywhere. Feels like this is clearing $400M+.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
I am not impressed with the presales pace yesterday. Could be due to Amazon prime members early shows which were fairly wide. It may not hit the high end I expected even 2 days ago. Let us wait and see how the pace is today.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Presales pace have been awful this week for Wicked. I am bumping down my previews to around high teens or 20m including all early shows and 115-120m OW. Gladiator is also just doing ok. 55-60m OW.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Is it possible the play's fans inflated the presales?

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
$120m for W and $60m for G would still be great.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Anything over 100m for Wicked would be great. Always thought it doing Barbie #s was kinda impossible.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Hopefully it’s people waiting for the Thanksgiving holiday to see it.
Frozen 2 opened to underwhelming 130m before having a sub 40%second weekend drop.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Does Gladiator get the money from the mystery movie showings earlier this week? Wild that amc/regal would use such a big movie for that.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
Neither movie is looking like having a strong finish. High teens previews for Wicked including all shows(I thought it will be at least low 20s until this week). I hope the walkups over the weekend are strong enough to take both movies to 120/60m. If its meh it could be like 110/55.

 Re: November 22-24 Predictions
You’d think the strong reviews would have given it the final push but maybe it’s just meeting the ceiling for a non Disney musical

Less than 100m and everyone asks, “what went wrong?” Then comes the rage bait YouTube “Go Woke, Go Broke” videos, and then it actually gets legs, then it actually has a strong box office

I’d be disappointed if it couldn’t at least beat Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
