Post Wild Robot Box Office
So Wild Robot is getting absolute raves and is a favorite to get best animated film. Seems like its set for a breakout. How big will this be?

Feeling $200M+ on this. There's so much goodwill from Iron Giant as a cult classic and it feels like this is a modern day version of that.

I think it will do well like over 100m total but I can’t imagine it opens much higher than the Bad Guys

I’m excited to see it, but wouldn’t even know it exists if not for this forum. Is it visible anywhere? Is it being advertised?

Geez. Here we go again. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice breaks out so now every new film is suddenly the next Titanic.

Goodwill from a film that made $23 million is not going to be a breakout success. It will probably be a good film but I do not see it being a huge success. This feels like another typical KJ over-expectation, so I'll go with $50 million total.

From the trailers I always thought it looked like a flop. If reviews stay good that's good. I don't see an opening above 30m though.

It needed better marketing to have a good opening, but if its great then it might have some real good legs.
Right now i see it opening to about 15m.

It will do fine but I think they should've moved it to holiday season.

I have it opening to high $20m's. Legs would have to be extraordinary.

Even with raves it could disappoint (ala Iron Giant). Right now - would say $28m/$150m is high end for it. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

An original Dreamworks movie hasn’t even grossed 100m since The Boss Baby in 2017!

Yeah, it's why I don't expect much. It's just so hard to turn original properties into hits.

Nah bad month, in a year of over performing animated films , it’s a bad idea idea to release two good ones weeks into a new school year. They should have been moved to October and December

Deadline - 11.3 Friday 35 weekend

This is without a doubt my favorite movie of the year. Hits all the feelings and families will eat this up.

Think legs will be very good. The trailers honestly did nothing for me but it's a strong movie. Kinda bad scheduling to have this and Transformers back to back, both have excellent reception.

Well legs are really more of a ritual term these days. It’s not like the same 2 million people see the same movie every week anymore or ever did. legs meant it traveled from city to city and the next town was sold out already, because most distribution companies depended on WOM and didn’t know if they could leg it out to another city financially. Goes back to circuses and old vaudeville acts.

If anything movies are the definition of viral or infection, either they catch on or they don’t.

It feels worrying that Never Let Go, on its second Friday, doesn't have a reported gross.

With a $6m first week, will it even reach $12m total?

Driver's Megalopolis and The Last Duel will have basically the same performance. Which is embarrassing for the Last Duel, even with covid being a factor.

Wild Robot's actual went up $800K to $35.8M.

Seems like it could have a leggy run coming up. $150M+ (4.19X multiplie) seems achievable.

Sunday also held well just 9% lower than opening day so those matinees look good.
