 Here - Box Office
Here trailer just hit and it looks like a wildcard.
The crew and cast behind Forrest Gump reuniting after 30 years. Pre Thanksgiving release date. Feels like this movie could play as that Christmas movie.
I wouldn't be shocked to see this do < $25M OW but then leg out or have another life over the Christmas break.

 Re: Here - Box Office
A decade ago this would have been a home run.
Right now - it can go either way. Either a must see or a gimmick that modern audiences won't go for.
I tend to agree. A $15-$20m OW and solid legs. Could still hit $100m if its well liked/good.

I think if it's good it will have a nice run over Christmas to 100 million. It seems perfect for boomers and the unique concept and Forrest Gump connection will get people's attention. Otoh they mostly watched the Holdovers and Fabelmans at home.

Tom Hanks is a draw enough for 65ish domestic in January as evidenced by man called otto. The more prime release date should help it do a little better, maybe 100m.

 Re: Here - Box Office
We also were getting stragglers of adult skewing films still underwhelming as people were trained to watch them on streamers in 2022. The unique feel of this one and the Forrest Gump nostalgia feel like it's a higher caliber event type film. I still remember Hannibal opening massively 10 years after Silence of the Lambs without even 1 of the 2 main stars. Adult nostalgia even decades later (aka TGM) still sells and matters to adult skewing films.
This isn't a Forrest Gump sequel but the buzz around this is going to highlight the reunion a lot to give it more prestige. Otto wasn't a contender really for Oscar season so more or less got to $64M on Hanks and the holidays alone.
Tom Hanks also interestingly got 1/2 of his Oscar nods (and 2 wins) from 1989-1995, and got two others from Ryan and Cast Away. He's only gotten 1 Oscar nod in 24 years by next year (Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood 2020), so if this does end up being good it could be a chance to give him a career recognition type Oscar (aka RDJ or Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady).
