F1 Movie
Brad Pitt's Formula 1 movie coming June 2025. Will be TGM director's follow up to his $700M+ film.
Backed by Apple and reported this week that it now is at a whopping $300M budget!!!
Produced by Lewis Hamilton. Lots of appearances at F1 races so as officially as you can get.
Of course its small for Apple but feels like this could be massive with the rise of F1 popularity.
How is this going to do? Feels like this could be one of the biggest sports movies ever if it does resonate worldwide.

Sub 200 unless it looks amazing, maybe if it starred Cruise it would’ve had better chance. They will get some Apple subs internationally out of it.

Re: F1 Movie
They filmed at some races last year before the strike and will do so again now that F1 is back in Europe. From what ive heard its tge visuals and footage that will win people over. Highly doubtful the story will seeing that Pitt mentioned he and his co star race for the worst team as they make their way up the grid - highly fictional in the world of F1.
While i’ll wait for the trailer for a proper prediction - assuming it looks good - i can see $150-200m domestic and $300-400m overseas considering F1 is bigger around the world than it is in the US. That said - this is the best time for release in the US as F1 has never been more popular there.

Re: F1 Movie
Ridiculous budget. Nothing should have a 3 as the first number unless it has the word Avengers in the title.

Re: F1 Movie
Indeed. $300m ensures it doesn't make a profit theatrically.

Re: F1 Movie
Ford vs Ferrari had a $98M budget in 2019 and that was with stars like Bale and Damon.
Ferrari budget was $95M
Gran Turismo $60M
Rush $60M
F1 rights I guess included? $300M+ just feels so over the top.

Re: F1 Movie
It's mostly useful for the "From the director of TGM" line.

Re: F1 Movie
That also won't make a sizeable difference. Nobody who saw TGM cared who the director was. They all went to revisit an 80s classic and because of Cruise. I bet many of them don't even know or care who directed the first film.
I suppose it can't hurt to have the TGM title on the poster, though. The 'if that was good this might be' mentality, but I really wonder if that still works (or ever did).
