Really interested to see Once's legs. Hope it pulls $110m+.
TS4 is having pretty great late legs, and looks like a billion is happening. Lion King will pass a billion this week. Crazy.
Aladdin keeps chugging along. Will likely pass Alice WW.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
Aladdin has had seven weekends in a row with under 35% drops. Amazing run to track.
If this had opened in the fall like the original and better marketing, really feel it could have done significantly more.
Random stat: Aladdin has the third best multiplier for any $90 m + opener of all time. Only Wonder Woman and Shrek are ahead.

Toy Story 4 will not only pass the billion, but also its predecessor. It had an awesome hold OS too and has yet to open in many European countries. Pretty crazy when taking into account that its OW was even inflated.

Pretty crazy when taking into account that its OW was even inflated. Completely forgot about that. If it had a say, 20% drop on Sunday instead of +0.4%, would have done an OW of $85.4 m and had a 4.16 multiplier by now. First movie in a long time to do well on Memorial Weekend and not underperform.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
Last year we had 8 200m grossing films. This year none so far.
And looking at the rest of the year there aren't really any films I see finishing in the 200s. Maybe Joker. Hobbs and Shaw I used to think would go over 200m but now not sure.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
I would think Hollywood has to get at least 3.0 for the multiplier given the demographics and type of movie. But it sure is looking frontloaded so far. If it doesn't get 3, it won't even earn more in total than I was expecting after the first trailer (the difference being more frontloading).

So Once Upon a Time... debuts with basically the same as Shutter Island and The Revenant. Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie have zero drawing power confirmed.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood overperformed my expectations a little. An OW over $40m should guarantee an $100m+ total.
That's a big drop for The Lion King. $500m is a done deal but $600m seems like a far reach now. It's headed for $560m now.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
Hollywood actuals ended up being $41m. Should get to 110m but it'd be nice if it did more than Basterds.
TS4 legs are looking really good.

Re: Weekend Estimates (Jul 26-28)
This weekend is first time we've ever had four $300m+ films in the Top 10 simultaneously.
