Mission Impossible: Fallout
The trailer continues get big reactions from theaters each time I see it, reminiscent of Jumanji. At Avengers, multiple people noted "Superman" when Cavill appears as the villain in what seems like potentially brilliant casting. His Rocky-esque punches generated a notable buzz.
Rogue Nation did 55/195 in 2015. Ghost Protocol inflates to about $250m.
No, Tom Cruise is not cool again, but the trailer is good and Superman as the villain has potential. Getting Skyfall type vibes here. A 90/300 run wouldn't shock me.

45/145
But it well do well enough internationally to make it profitable.
I don't think Henry Cavill is any sort of draw, and there isn't any super distinctive element to the advertising to this one unlike the plane stunt from Rogue Nation.

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
Is Cavill really the villain? I don't remember it being so clear from the trailer. At one point I even thought they were working together. If he is the villain, they could make it much more obvious, which makes me doubt that he is. Maybe he is from a competing international spy agency (an audition for Bond, perhaps).

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
It's a really solid trailer, and the last three films have had a solid enough reception that I have to imagine it shouldn't drop much from Rogue Nation. I have it at $170 million right now, which I guess would make it the least attended installment of the franchise, but it should be enough to still be one of the biggest hits of the summer. It should also make a killing overseas, particularly China - it looks like Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation were among the biggest Hollywood imports of their respective years, and I imagine this should build on that, right?

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
It's like, I think they're doing everything right--the trailer looks good, the last couple of movies seem very well received, and I think there will probably be an audience for action movie that's a little more old-fashioned, but it is is the sixth movie, and it seems kind of continuity-laden, which may lock some people out. (Ironically, I think the overly episodic nature of the franchise hurt the third one around 2006)

Hmm. I don't see anything different from the last two. Around $180-$210m, probably closer to $180m.

If I see this trailer 1 more time before my next movie, I'm going to tear the screen down. It has been in front of ever one and i'm still not interested in seeing it. MI should have been done 3 movies ago

It shows Cavill shooting at Cruise's helicopters. It also shows them fighting together in the bathroom. It could be Angela Bassett's agency is eventually the bad and Cavill turns good?

It shows shots fired but I get the feeling it isn't so clear, and you guys might be fooled a bit by editing.

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
Wut.
Plz the franchise looks well-made but tired. It ain't making $200m.
No one cares about Cavill either.

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
Yeah I never got a sense from the trailer that Cavill was a villain here. As for the movie I see it doing well again but the stunts do seem repetitive here. I think a same drop as from GP to RN is in order that would mean $182m total.

I think Henry is going to join the team. Fill in that Renner gap.

Not a big fan of the two posters though the first one looks decent.

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
Yeah they are OK but a little lacklustre. The first one is better though.

New trailer coming tomorrow. I think the previous trailer is great, so I hope this one delivers.

Re: Mission Impossible: Fallout
The bombing of Cavill's superman in the DCEU has helped him to not become known as the superman guy.
