Venom I see a massive breakout. Would not be shocked by a Spidy type opening.

As for A Star is born, presales on Fandango aren't that far behind Venom.

Re: October 5-7 Predictions MT has Venom in the top 5 already with 4.2%. Even with disappointing reviews, I still think it will open above $60m and $70m+ OW isn't out of the question.

Re: October 5-7 Predictions I went huge on Venom in KC's game, but the hype definitely feels muted right about now. I think everyone is anticipating the wave of bad reviews as much as the movie itself. Though if it can pull like a 61% on RT things should be fine.
A Star Is Born has a ton going for it, but will they turn up opening weekend or later on? And will Gaga's draw make up for it being more of a depressing musical than a happy spectacle like TGS?
The Hate U Give feels too on the nose to be a hit. Get Out was subtle, it could be enjoyed as a horror movie, then enhanced once you think about the politics of it. Same with Black Panther. THUG seems like it will be 90% tragedy, 5% finger pointing and 5% black empowerment. I'm sure New Yorkers will be willing to pay $17 to watch the news, but I can't see it playing well outside of the biggest cities.

Star - $38.5M
THUG - 45k PTA
But since I've been way off this season, expect
Venom - $42.2M
Star - $20.9M

Mamma Mia 2 did not appear in MT until Wednesday before its release, so a strong start for ASIB and of course, an awesome start for Venom.

Re: October 5-7 Predictions Are people really surprised by the bad reviews? It looked like trash from the start IMO, but it at least sounds like it will be an entertaining mess of a film. Sony is fucking lucky that the curiosity factor is so high for it and that there is an audience out there that is interested enough to push it towards a solid opening, because even if legs are horrible it's still going to be pretty damn profitable with only a $100M budget.
