Coco predictions
I think that looks pretty great so far. So many people are commenting about the Book of Life comparisons but that movie made $99m WW. *shrug*
Good Dinosaur did $55m in its 5-day in the same time frame so I expect this will do better, maybe $65m.

Re: Coco predictions
I'd hope for at least 70m 5 day. The Good Dinosaur was a monumental disappointment for Pixar, it would still be pretty disappointing if this only did a little bit better.

Re: Coco predictions
This will have better saying power than TGD even if it opens similarly. Should be #1 till Star Wars unless they add something else in the beginning of December.

True, absolutely no way it is as shitty as that abomination.
But 65m 5 day would mean that Justice League stays in first over Thanksgiving. Coco could maybe claim first over the post thanksgiving frame.

Re: Coco predictions
It could be an Inside Out sleeper hit.
Movie is also very similar to The Book of Life.

Re: Coco predictions
It feels unoriginal. I hope it bombs worse than The Good Dinosaur.

Re: Coco predictions
It will probably open smaller but have decent legs. Should finish with $180-$220m unless its a disaster quality wise.
Well... nothing like guaranteeing the success of your film...

Re: Coco predictions
Its a Pixar original directed by TS3 director. It will be great and Pixar Adult fanbase will be there. It will open to at least 80m over 5 days. This will have a huge hook to latino audience as well.

Re: Coco predictions
I have no interest in Coco but with the short being a sizable 21 minutes long I'd go see it on discount Tuesday just for this and then probably not stay for Coco. Good thinking Disney because Coco needs the help.
Well he could just leave and sneak into Thor or JL after.
I was assuming he had seen both of those numerous times by then.

Even if it got 90% at RT?
I could maybe understand if this were Cars 3, but an original Pixar movie is usually worth seeeing.
Hell, even Good Dinosaur was worth it for the visuals. Just needed some earplugs!

Re: Coco predictions
I think this has about as much appeal as Brave. I think it will be a better movie though and gross 250m+. It should start slower than Moana though.

Re: Coco predictions
These films aren't science, if it starts below Moana, it's not passing it. Animation is weak this year so it has a chance, and most babies can say coco so it's an easy sell for parents
