top 5 of December 2017 predictions
I think we could all pretty much agree with what #1 is gonna be, but what will be the biggest grossers this month?
I'm not really sure on Ferdinand. Road Chip grossed $85m against Force Awakens so maybe that seems right? Or will it be a 100m+ grosser?
I'm also not sure about Pitch Perfect 3. I feel like it'll go down a lot from the second but holiday legs will help.
so... I'm gonna guess: 1. The Last Jedi - 750m 2. Jumanji (if this isn't regarded as awful it's gonna be huge) - 170m 3. Pitch Perfect 3 - 115m 4. Ferdinand - 90m 5. Greatest Showman - 65m
Don't think Downsizing, Father Figures or All The Money in the World will do 50m+.

I have to give it more thought. I would think All the Money in the World could get over 60m though.

Re: top 5 of December 2017 predictions
Ferdinand strikes me as a $60m grosser at best. The Greatest Showman looks like a "north of $80m" grosser. Pitch Perfect 3 will get help from the #MeToo girl power thing that's popular at the moment, and will make upwards of $150m. Jumanji is going over $100m, but not as high as $130m. Downsizing is probably going to get lost with around $50m. Bastards will flop with $20m. All the Money in the World will make fuck-all with or without Spacey, though the trailer is an improvement without Spacey. I am thinking just $35m for it.

Ferdinand is doing $100m+ DOM. (It looks good, kids are off school, it's based on a top 100 children's book, Disney won the best animated short Oscar for it's version, and only one Blue Sky movie has done less than $100m.)

Yeah Ferdinand is looking good for $100m+ total. Here's my ranking
1. TLJ - $720m 2. Ferdinand - $170m 3. Pitch Perfect - $135m 4. Jumanji - $105m 5. Greatest Showman - $100m

Pitch Perfect 3 is doing $200m+ DOM.
(It is a series that started quietly and has gradually builtup a whole lotta cult buzz. PP3's promotional campaign has been extensive, and effective at getting the word out to the faithful. The first did $65m, the second $184m - this third one is going to erupt.)

The faithful will get it to $100m. It needs the wider general audience to get it above $200m.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is doing $300m+ DOM.
It's going to be the family-pleasin', comedy-adventure surprise breakout hit of the 2017/18 holidays. Kevin Hart? Jack Black? Dwayne Johnson? C'mon!

Re: top 5 of December 2017 predictions
If that happens it will be Dwayne's first lead movie to gross over $300m and would be $100m more than the original Jumanji adjusted-for-inflation. In other words, it isn't happening and you're delusional (but then we all knew that already).
But I applaud you for supporting the films you anticipate. I hope it can make a sizable amount. Say, $180-200m, especially being in the shadow on The Last Jedi.

Re: top 5 of December 2017 predictions
I love this December, I hope Jumanji, Greatest Showman, and Downsizing hit 100 million And then the Disaster Artist, and the cherry on top is The Last Jedi. And, I know this might sound horrible. But just seeing the new trailer to All the Money, I have no interest in it. Plummer looks horrible in it.
I only wish I got moviepass not as a gift.

Re: top 5 of December 2017 predictions
1. The Last Jedi - $750M+ 2. Jumanji - $150M+ 3. Pitch Perfect 3 - $125M 4. Ferdinand - $100M-$110M 5. The Greatest Showman - $75M-$85M
I can see Downsizing and All The Money in the World doing $50-$60M which is nothing amazing, but still very solid and respectable considering their mid tier films. Father Figures looks like a huge bomb IMO.

Alexander Payne generally takes a sophisticated and adult perspective in his films - personally, I'm excited he's not holding back his vision by ratings concerns with Downsizing. Quote: Payne is batting a thousand!
Filmography:
- Nebraska - The Descendants - Sideways - About Schmidt - Election - Citizen Ruth

Downsizing has always looked like an adult film to me... isn't one of the scenes in the trailer bin getting high?
