It reminds me of the hype and mystique surrounding Hannibal in 2001. It (as in Hannibal, not It--this is going to get confusing) adjusts to around 90 million.

It is a tough one to predict. We all know the previews and opening day will be massive, but will it tank like a normal horror after that or perform like the blockbuster WB has positioned it as?

Looks like Hurricane Irma will definitely impact It's weekend box-office with a lot of theatres reportedly being closed Saturday through Monday in Florida. However, I believe this will only make the Friday rush even bigger.

Also, a reliable source on BOT posted that It has already beaten the total amount pre-sales sold for Apes and Dunkirk, and is also ahead of where Doctor Strange was in the sales cycle.

WSJ reports tracking is now over $70m.

They're doing the marketing guerrilla style around here. They've attached flying red balloons to the sewer grates last night.

Damn. Local 4 and 5 screen theaters around me are getting IT on 2 screens. That only happens for like Star Wars...

At my Regal, RPX is outselling the standard screen 3:1, which is amazing since those tickets are $5 more apiece.

How prominent is the legend of It in Croatia? If it's known, and people are aware of the new one, that is great marketing because I imagine some people walking home in the dark seeing one of those would be petrified.

If you mention the killer clown everyone will know you're talking about "that TV show that made me scared as a kid". But I'm not really sure if the red balloon is that iconic. My friend's brother refused to go into the shower as a kid because of the TV movie and I know a lot of people that had some kind of trauma as a kid thanks to the movie. So yeah - people know about It most definitely. Red balloon is a nice gimmick, but I don't think many people would connect them that easily to It.

As far as awareness for the new It movie in Croatia (or any upcoming movie that is) it's not that easy to say. The marketing has been uncharacteristically strong (and movies don't get marketed much here either) so I'd say there's awareness, but there aren't any big movie related portals, no polling, etc. so nothing (semi)official can be said about actual size of awareness.

Yeah, perhaps if the red balloons came with another clue on them people may be more inclined to make the connection. Still though, I do admire the effort. I wonder why they chose Croatia to do this and not a much more prosperous market.
